Re: HRDx to ODS Conversion... Help Please!!

Personally I would axe the screw terminal connections (you're asking for trouble) and go with the solder especially on the pre-amp side. Make it as fool proof as possible. Tony Solder for peace of mind. I did the screw terminals and it's the only amp I've ever built that I worry about. It's ...

Re: Version opinion for the group

My favorite Stratocaster config is 124 low plate skyliner but with the deep switch circuit tagged on. I run it with deep and bright engaged. I also have the OD high frequency taper like you see in 123... this allows you to dial in a clean tone that is somewhere between Fender and Dumble, but also ba...

This is what I have in mine and I love it. It's one of my main gigging amps. Although I use the 'tall stack' pt and a bandmaster ot in mine with 6L6 or 5881, so can we really call it a Princeton Reverb :?:

Richard McDonald talked about this amp, and his experience with Dumble on Guitarwank 253.. It's a really cool listen: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4ZrxGk ... e680664706

Re: Blues Deluxe to ODS build

While we're on the subject of the BDRI conversion... try at your own risk, but one of my absolute favorite things with this amp is to throw a couple of JJ6V6S in there. It becomes the ultimate livingroom ODS. I've also used it like this for a couple of live recording sessions and gigs with a quieter...

Re: Blues Deluxe to ODS build

I got the warehouse ET65 yesterday , When you did yours, did you just change the values on the board ? Leave the tonestack/pot values etc Bluesmaster , or did you got down the complete overhaul road , I'm still contemplating whether to try and go all the way . I think I'll start by removing the HRM...

Re: Blues Deluxe to ODS build

If I rip the tweed off of mine is that pretty wood going to be underneath?!? I converted a BDRI using this board... I built mine with 102 values. I actually gig with it quite a bit. My only regret is using the screw terminals, although it's been gigging for a year now and no issues at all. I p...

Re: Anyone still have a layout/schem for the Bassman/Longhorn mods?

I have looked all over just out of curiosity, and no luck. Even archive.org is failing me here. I'm hoping someone here has it downloaded and can share it. Can you share that schematic?

No Load pot for Type 3 PPIMV

I was about to use a push pull pot for the regular type 3 PPIMV, the one with the pot between the grid leak resistors, but then it occurred to me that a one of those "no load" pots that people use for guitar tone controls would do the trick. Turn it all the way up and it's completely out of the circ...

Re: 102 build hum at startup

Random thought.. anything weird happening with the switchable fet? Even with the input grounded at the jack, that could be feeding something into the signal path if it's engaged.

Re: 102 build hum at startup

Seems like something in the output section... It almost sounds like a really loud transformer hum. Also, the preamp voltages seem high.

Yeah, I think Tag is talking about his HR Deville. Knowing Tag, there is no way in hell he would ever call the OD of #0183 bad :)
He clearly is.. another user asks him about the Deville and if it's modded further down in the comments

Re: Who makes these knobs??

https://stompboxparts.com/knobs/vintage ... ob-medium/ is similar but with the triangle index... I just ordered 15 of them and they were all in perfect working order. They are definitely lighter and more plastic feeling than the ALCO knobs that they are a clone of, but not bad at all.

Re: Eric Johnson/Larry Carlton ODS build

Not that it necessarily matters, as I think I understand what you are looking for, but at least as far as EJ goes, those lead tones are all through his Marshall 100W. The Dumble was used at that time as his crunch rhythm sound. He has a tube driver into an echoplex and into the Marshall for that si...
