Re: diode string protection express mod
i tried the diode protection mod on my 5e3 deluxe.. it doesn't work.. it made the 6v6's sputter on and off.. so i immediately took the diodes off.. all is well again.. maybe it doesn't work on self biasing amps?

diode string protection express mod
was thinking of doing the 3 diodes the express power tubes has on my stock tweed deluxe clone… any issues doing this on a cathode biased 6v6 amp like this? i liked it in my express, tried taking it out, but liked it better with… so was expand to my other amps and see what happens

Ef86 to 6SH7 adapter (matchless clubman
hi, I've got a matchless clubman with EF86, the original circuit had octal 6SH7 in that spot… i was curious to try the original octal tube and want to use an adapter to try it… but i only have a 12ax7 to octal adapter… I'm not sure if the pinout of the octal adapter is the same for 12ax7 and ef86 to...

Re: bad power in club
this club owner doesn't care about anything at all... i mean anything :D his big SS bass amp is broken, it works for 10 minutes and then dies, so everyone uses the small bass amp there... the house guitar amp, JC120 works, but sounds like crap for some reason, not right. the 90V story was at another...

Re: Capacitor Orientation in an Express
Here you go (see attached). The black bars shown on the caps represent the outer foil. or maybe skip that and buy caps that are all correctly marked... mallory orange drops are... sozo's are... sprague orange drops aren't if i remember correctly... or just build the amp and then you can mod it late...

Re: Sozo Mustard Vintage vs Orange Caps
Shady... very shady! I love the tone but I haven't bought any Sozos in over a year... problems with a lack of communication and actual availability drove me to try out Jupiters... They are a little more pricey but I can get that same mustard cap tone without the transaction hassles. I must say that...

Re: SSS 002 LAYOUT
this may be a dumb question, but how did dumble make those SSS boards? why not use leads to connect the eyelets like fender and the ODS? how was it done in the high plains drifter clone?

Resistor drift under load
i was wondering about resistor drift under load, and maybe partially from heat issues. i know i can test resisters with a mulimeter, but is that really a definitive test that they will work properly? i know CC's drift with heat, but im not talking about those, im talking about CF's, MF's, and MO typ...
