Re: Finished My Express OMFG
Well I aired it out good this afternoon for about three hours straight at mostly half to full and all I can say is ....!!!!OMFG. This amp makes playing effortless. I don't have to try as hard to let my emotions through into my playing. It will take a little getting use to but I love the finesse this...

Re: Finished My Express OMFG
Anyone see a problem with leaving the 1 ohm cathode resistors on the output tubes for biasing ?

Re: 6L6GC'S
I'd be concerned about using 6L6's in an Express. The plate voltages in an express are approaching max values for a 6L6. Hmmm, the Express puts out 395V plate / 380V screen, quite far from the rated 500V /450V of a 6L6GC. Anyway, voltage alone doesn't kill big bottles, current x voltage does : you ...

I'd be concerned about using 6L6's in an Express. The plate voltages in an express are approaching max values for a 6L6. Don't be surprised if they don't last too long. Just my $0.02 Steve Oh... Still would love to see some photos of the amp. I will post some amp porn first chance I get though she ...

Finished My Express OMFG
Well I wired my Express up today as far as I could go (I am waiting on a multicap to come in). I couldn't stand it so I rigged some singles just to try it out. She came up nice with the obligatory plate lead swap to rid myself of the shrill and all voltages are within spec so what the heck, I fired ...

Re: Rocket Current Draw
EL84's draw 45 mA plate + 10 mA screen max in a typical Rocket-class amp, so a PPP with 4x output tubes and 3x ECC83's should be rated for 200 mA minimum (the amp is class AB, with only two EL84's drawing current above idle). Your 125 mA PT should be OK for a PP version (two EL84's). At this curren...

Rocket Current Draw
I'm adding up the current draw for the rocket because I'm trying to build one with what I have on hand and later on upgrade into the proper iron. So if I have it right each output tube is roughly 25 ma and each preamp tube is around 3 ma worst case. That would draw around 110 ma from the transformer...

Re: My first build, What should I do before thuning it on?
My pilot light is fixed so it is not a problem. I set the bias pot at -43 v and tried it with tubes. Again no pilot light, the bulb limiter stayed bright for 15 seconds and the filaments were showing no signs of lighting up so i turned the amp off and again no charge. This part is key here guys for...

Re: My Express Build with some problems
In this pick a cliff jack is used on the input. Cliff jacks are isolated from the chassis and require a seperate ground wire , which the builder installed. The metal switchcraft style jacks are grounded through the frame and do not require a seperate ground. If you refer to the amp layout in the fil...

Re: My Express Build with some problems
I notice you're using the fender style switchcraft jacks. Are they the shorting type ? I just had a problem with a brand new set on a fender deluxe build. The shorting contact arm was weak and I got intermitent crackling and every now and then a high pitched wooshing sound out of them. It got so bad...
