Re: Matt Scoffields sound/tone.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys..... thought this thread had run its course!!!! Keep the suggestions coming. I am really struck by the versatility of this amp....such subtle changes seem to make an enormous impact on the sound. Yes Tom, i'm running a pair of old GE 6l6s on CATHODE BIAS. The b...

Re: Matt Scoffields sound/tone.

Hey Tom, tried your suggestion (switchable mid cap) and it works great, thank you. 0.01 is definately the FAT mode! Considering a slope switch and also an OD entrance switch (0.05cap/10meg to ground) to see the effect on my OD. Thanks again for your suggestion. Doc.

Re: Scuttlebuttin w/70's Amp

Tony, what I am enjoying about your tracks is that you have your own sound. This track shows off the strat in a very flattering way. I also keep revisiting your "Beck" track....the tone you get is glorious on that!! These amps are clearly very versatile and you are showing that!! Cheers. :D

Re: Jeff Beck's Pump w/ Music Man iron amp

Hi Tony. Enjoyed your 70's clip and this one was no disappointment either!! Lovely tone and playing. Ive not built any FET circuits into any of my amps and I am getting the feeling I might be missing out on something! Are you basically just trying to get a little extra boost going into an otherwise ...

Re: Matt Scoffields sound/tone.

Thank you all for your input so far. I am on a steep learning curve here, but bit by bit it is all starting to make a little more sense. I started looking into D style amps about three years ago, and at that time it was hard to get much info.....how things have moved on !! The challenge now,(after g...

Re: Matt Scoffields sound/tone.

Tony. I have to say, this is a most unexpected welcome. Yes, I kind of got the idea, but had no idea how far it might have gone!!! I have been reading the forum for a little while just taking it all in. I am genuinely stunned and impressed at the same time at the breadth of knowledge you guys have a...

Re: el34 HRM

Very Nice Build. :D I thought of using vinyl myself but was worried the adhesive might not like the heat from the chassis. How is yours working out? Anything to worry about? Also, any chance of a sound clip?

Re: Matt Scoffields sound/tone.

Thanks for your reply, Rob. I also had the same info regarding his Carlton Bludotone. I just wanted to discuss his present sound before he (I assume) changes direction with his forthcoming Bludotone. Are you going to see him in Sheffield this month?

Matt Scoffields sound/tone.

Hi everyone. This is my first post so I hope it is of interest. As you all know, Matt Schoffield is one of our rising stars in the UK and IMHO is an exciting contributor to the international blues scene. I thought i'd better not waste anymore time before posting this topic as Matt is about to change...
