Re: Send in the Clones
[ Dr. Z's Carmen Ghia is alledgedly from the Hammond Reverb Amp or as TDPR multiple posts a "straight across AO-35 clone" with a mid tone circuit from Matchless. Renshen 1957 I am a contributing member of this forum, and I'm sick of the posts here stating I nicked Matchless's tone circuit. The first...

Re: Prius V commercial
I don't usually pay attention to commercials on TV, but one caught my eye. The latest Prius V commercial has significant face time with Dr. Z amps. It's almost a much of a Dr.Z ad as it is a Prius ad. Interesting. Dr. Z - did they approach you, or you them, about this? Did you p...

Re: Choke for Z-Wreck
Tommy as Eddie stated the choke is down the PS so 90 mA will be fine. Just remember Filter caps control Voltage levels and the sag you feel when playing hard. A choke maintains the Currant and keeps the circuits dynamic to your touch. The more important spec is the Hy, just like uF to a filter cap. ...

Re: Can Someone Explain The Carmen Ghia Power String & PI?
ES 345 has it right. It is a differential FIXED DC BIASED amplifier. The use of a fixed bias as you all know allows a more linear responce. And when coupled to the Conjuctive Filter forms a nice Limiter/Compressor. This gives a very balanced output from top E to bottom E string. The two filter caps ...

Re: Zwreck help!!!!
Not sure if anyone caught this, but Cliff was talking about the pic of the real Zwreck, which has shrink instead of grommets, not the OP's amp!
That pic is a very early Z-Wreck from my German dealers site. All new production Z-Wrecks have rubber grommets on feed thr...

Re: Xits X10 = liverpool half power?
Same here, I'm a fan of old hifi iron ala Stancor when I can get it. Always sounds better than a weak transformer IMO. The saturated transformer sound paired with certain speakers (lower wattage speakers specifically) can give a very interesting sonic flavor but it's not the s...

Re: Z wreckish build fired up
Yes Mark, but maybe more then 3 variations if memory serves me. The orginal Amp that Ken tweeked is safe at BP's home, he never took it on the road. I built copies on the Stang Ray chassis for his road rig. Those got destroyed, and rebuilt replacements Ver 2 in a hurry for rehearsal and tour. Then I...

Re: Z wreckish build fired up
Remember guy's Ken and I colaberated on the amp built for Brad Paisley. Brad was the one that said after he heard the MF loaded unit " Don't change a single thing......". And that is what went into production. Couple of other points: I used MF's on my first amp designs and liked there 1% consistancy...
