Re: Tonex useful captures

That's really helpful thanks. I'd really like to try the separated pre - power amp idea. Maybe one day I'll capture my #183 preamp- sounds good. Though I don't have the gear for captures. Sorry to keep you hanging, I am migrating some things and waiting for a new laptop. I updated the software thin...

Re: Tonex useful captures

Yep I did exactly that but it only wants to see Custom IRs as .wav files. This is Windows so maybe different from IOS. My completely up to date Tonex setup will not allow Tone Models as IRs sadly. Really liked the idea of the preamp / power amp into my live setup. I use Windows and Apple thing. I j...

Re: Tonex useful captures

Hi Miles, this looks like fun. I just got a Tonex pedal and I'm enjoying exploring the possibilities. I tried to do what you said above but I can only import WAVs as IRs. Do I rename the file suffix as WAV? Thanks for all your work on Tonex Rog Open the app on your computer Select any amp or preamp...

Re: Tonex useful captures

I FORGOT TO SAY You see stelligan's dumble power sections on his Tonex user page. https://www.tone.net/tonex/tonemodels/68071 click that and then click his id to get there. Download the two output sections with dumbleator. Open Tonex on your computer and open a preamp capture. Open the speaker IR t...

Re: Dumble ODS 102 Speaker Cab

G12 65 Heritage 16 ohm is what I always used.
Great in my JCM800 combo too.
Now I've got a Neo Creamback in a cab, another great speaker. But given the choice, Heritage is my no 1. It's what was in my 102 combo in sig photo

Re: Panel/Faceplate Engravers in the UK?

I had Hiwatt style Traffolyte panels done by a company called Furnells in London some years back. If your friend googles Traffolyte engraving uk he'll get a number of other companies, maybe one will be nearby.

Most people measuring voltages in these amps use Fluke. You can run into 750v AC on some transformers. So 1000v DC.. Cat II.
I use a USA Wavetek (ex BT), but do a search on here and see what folks use.

Re: Dumble ODS 102 build

Here is the Dumble ODS 102 Build I have nearly done (Just grounding and Transfomers yet to finish/Order) I am contemplating going with 100 watt transformers as I can always switch it down to 50 watts and I think ill be ordering the Dumble style OT and PT from Tube Town as I cannot find anything in ...

Re: Dumble ODS 102 build

Sorry I don't know about Tube Town transformers. I've used Hammond Classictone (no longer available) and Mercury (very expensive). I know folks in the USA use Heyboer. Find out who makes their ones and make the decision. Inmadout in Italy are also good. Bear in mind EU products may be subject to shi...

Re: Dumble ODS 102 build

As for speakers, 150w Swamp Thang in Thiele cab works great or Celestion G12-65s in open back.
Many use EV 12 but I found them good only at gig volumes.

Re: Eq's in Dumble 50w out of

Maybe a failed R/J switch that is not closing in Rock setting, resulting in PAB? Measure resistance across switch pins. As Martin says, RJ not engaging correctly results in tonestack lift ie PAB. If you put a correctly functioning RJ switch in centre position you will hear the boost. Check the wiri...

Re: "A box later" Dumble

Just a quick update. I finally finished my Kleinulator on a tiny veroboard in a 125B enclosure. It was a nightmare! But I have now run all 3 effects buffers through my rig, albeit quietly at home. #183 preamp > fx buffer loop mono in out> active splitter> stereo 20 / 20 power amp > stereo 2x 10 cab....
