Here's the thread I was talking about : http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... ight=visio . The "patmedia" link at the top is dead, but there is more info down the thread a bit.

Re: Proper epoxy for Formica
No. I tried to find a picture to go with that post but didn't. What I meant is like a top board with the eyelets and a backer board behind it with the wires coming out from between the 2, like you can see in the pics of #124 come to think of it :

Re: How to ship an amp to Brazil
Thanks for all the replies. Ya Taylor, there is an import duty that I have been asked to declare the value lower on. Is there some way I can get screwed by doing this ? For example, if I insure it for the actual cost is that going to prohibit a lower declaration for customs purposes ? I guess I'll f...

Re: Proper epoxy for Formica
Ange, you could just use them as-is if you make the boards sandwich style with eyelets like some D cloners do.

Re: What software to draw a layout?
As far as ease of use and end result, Microsoft Visio is hands down the best tool for doing layouts. It's kind of expensive, but you can download the free trial from Microsoft that you can use for 60 days - if you are just need to do a couple of layouts then that should suffice, but if you need to u...

Re: Odd FX Loop Problem
I think it's just a matter of an impedance mismatch that could be solved by having a buffered external loop, like a d'lator for example, plugged into the send/return jacks.

How to ship an amp to Brazil
A potential customer of mine wants me to ship him an amp to Brazil. Anyone have any suggestions as to who the best shipper would be to use for this ?

Re: 5Y3 versus 5AR4
Remember to get a vintage 5Y3 - as far as I know nobody makes a real one anymore even though some are labeled as such. There's still plenty of NOS available at reasonable prices.

Re: 50K bias pot, blue ones?
I got a 50K ten turn Bourns pot for $14 and the Kilo Int'l locking scale dial for $9 at Nebraska Surplus. I think the url is surplussupply.com or something like that. Thanks for that tip, haven't looked at that site in a long time. Here is the page with all the turns counting dials, locking and oth...

Re: 50K bias pot, blue ones?
It's separate, and almost twice the cost of the pot. Useful if you like tube swapping because you can quickly get back to the right bias setting for a given set of tubes without getting the meter out. Mouser has it : http://www.mouser.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=MG22L-1%2f4virtualkey60710000virt...

Re: Steel String Singer Schematics
Probably not a good first project. I'm sure we would all like to see the sections you have, maybe someone can fill in the gaps. If you are really serious about this, Brandon already basically gave us the recipe for it - do a forum search and you will find it - twin reverb pre, RDH4 filters, SVT powe...

I'd go for a 2 X 6L6 5E3. Remember Doveman's Supraluxe ? : http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... e&start=45 I thought that sounded pretty sweet, here's his Youtube clip of it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-2gNkXuTgk

Re: DIN Jack and generic 3-button footswitch question
I found what I needed, too. Thanks for the heads-up. Not too crazy about that $30 shipping charge on a $15 order, though. I guess I'll wait until I can put together a larger order before pulling the trigger. jr Shipping shouldn't cost $30, you need to change the shipping method - I think you can sh...
