Re: No sound - no hum - no good - please help
The signal tracer idea is a good one, it's an easy way to isolate noise issues, or no sound issues as in this case . I built mine out of an old boom box I got at Goodwill and a few bucks in parts at Radio Shack :

Re: 2 X EL84 Reverb Rocket
Thanks Dcribbs. Haven't had a chance to fire it up yet. No, the treble is not connected to the cut, I just poked the wire through the unused cut control lug to stabilize it. There seems to be a number of posts today in the forum about a PPIMV in this type of circuit, I will try and listen critically...

Re: Harp amp ideas
I agree that the DR normal channel might not get you where you want to be, so since you want the reverb anyway, just do the trem channel with no trem and then you get the additional reverb recovery stage. Another way to go which would knock the tube count down by 1 and keep the LTP idea is to do a B...

Re: Gretsch 6149 Schematic
Strange bird indeed, thanks for posting this info. Somebody wrote me and asked about this amp because they had one that a hack job had been done on, so I collected all I could find on it but I could not locate a schematic. I'll post some pics I have that may help in your restoration. Has anybody eve...

Re: 2 X EL84 Reverb Rocket
Finished the amp this evening except for the power scaling. Too late to fire it up, will try tomorrow and post a clip or 2. DCribbs : Not hijacking at all, no worries. I agree with ampgeek, a signal tracer will help you nail down quick where the problem is - I'll post a simple way to do it in the th...

Re: My first Rocket... Need help!
It looks like there are a few turrets where the component is in the hole but is not soldered in - the V1a blocking cap on the control panel side for example. I would check to make sure every thing is soldered , and maybe look at every turret/component connection because some of them look kind of que...

Re: 2 X EL84 Reverb Rocket
I see your layout is straying quite a bit from the normal layout most use. I also see the cap can. I have acquired two old tube hifi stereos, a sansui and vector research (one is my dad's he's had and the other was mine) that were in my dad's basement I just noticed last weekend. One has capcans, d...

Re: 2 X EL84 Reverb Rocket
Looking great, your going to confuse the pack with the PI in the back row :) Thanks Mark. Ya, I was going to drill out another hole for the PI to put it in the normal spot and plug the extra power tube hole, but I thought I would save myself the trouble of having to do any more metal work to the ch...

2 X EL84 Reverb Rocket
Finally got around to starting my 15W Reverb Rocket this weekend. It's in a Callaham chassis I picked up on Ebay a few years ago. The iron is a custom set I ordered from Heyboer a while back - standard 18W OT, 18W PT with a lowered HT secondary : 250-0-250, and a 20H choke. I'll post updates as it p...

Here's a bit about the studio and mics and stuff, not much about the amps/ guitar : http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov05/articles/classictracks.htm I would guess that the effects would be some combo of the ones he is known for - fuzz face, octavia, wah-wah etc : http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov0...

Re: Power Cord
If you order this amp, for example, with the solid-gold chassis option, you really are practically committing a crime if you don't use the King Cobra power cord with it : http://www.alessandro-products.com/amp-beagle.shtml

Re: Anyone got an extra 325K lyin' around ?
I thought u wanted a precision 325k resistor.. haha LOL . Sorry for the ambiguity. ...And now for something completely different... A number of years ago a friend of mine was in the market for a Les Paul Deluxe gold top. He found a Nice one at Norm's for 1K ( a thousand dollars :D ) and put it on a...

Re: Face plate making in Inkscape
Thanks for posting that Greg. I was not familiar with Inkscape so I downloaded it to check it out and it is very powerful for a free graphics program.
