Re: Transformer ID?
I think the model number of the Heyboer OT is HTS-5200 and it’s an odd coincidence that 5.2k is an impedance people use. I ordered some custom Heyboers awhile ago and they got sequential hts-xxxx model numbers unrelated to impedance. Like the pt is hts5199 and the it is hts5200 for the wreck. The HT...

Re: Cleaning up an Express' act
Hi Jackie Do you have any before and after clips? That PI circuit is favoured by Ken Fischer and HAD, I tried it in my Boogie SOB and it does sound pretty good. What were the tonal changes of using the 1K cathode resistor and the 39K tail resistor? That's really interesting. I did not know HAD set ...

Re: Cleaning up an Express' act
I love my Express clone! ..but, I want a bluesy, compressed, edge of breakup sound for my Tele, too. Sold on the Wreck philosophy and only Express-like touch sensitivity and dynamics will do (but with less gain, so it will properly clean up when heavily attenuated. I've not played a Rocket (none av...

Re: DvNator's TMC1
Very nice! Looks like a fun amp. I played one of Dvnator's wreck style amps a few years ago, I think it was a 10 watt push pull based on a Russian power tube. It definitely had a ton of the wreck qualities we admire so much.

Re: Songwriter Group Build -- Not Gonna Happen
In times like these, i think back to Ken's postcard to Mark in which he said he didn't mind people building his amps for their personal use. He didn't like people doing it for profit. Hogy seems to be echoing that sentiment, which I see as a gentleman's non compete agreement. We're going to talk abo...

Re: simple hi-fi phono amp
Take a look at the EAR 834p. There are lots of mods/info on this design. I made myself one a few years ago and have been pretty happy with it.

Re: Pedals that work with the Rocket
I think all the fuzzes I've tried have been really good. My favorite is a 1969 style one I did with the roger Mayer mods, 2k fuzz pot. The OCD is another really good one. I made myself a v1.4.

Re: GZ-34 and the Rocket
There was a thread that resurfaced on TGP regarding the copper caps. Someone measured a GZ34 and observed that its internal resistance was not constant, but varied with the load. It dropped less voltage as the load increased. So, it may well be contributing something extra special with its sag. I've...

Re: Picked up a Univibe
Have you heard the Strymon Lex, there are a few good clips of it on You Tube. I have to keep telling myself I don't need it, but it is such a nice sounding pedal. I splurged on a Timeline a couple years ago. Great pedal, but when I plug it in to the Express, it makes all these low level computer no...

Re: Rocket Power Dissipation
I looked up an old post of when I measured the power and it was actually 28 watts clean, 32 at full clip. So, you're right, my memory was bad!Gaz wrote:Eh, I don't know about your guys 15-20W measurements. With that low of plate voltage I at least get 25W before break up and maybe 35-40W full tilt.

Re: Rocket Power Dissipation
When I measured mine, 300v B+, RJ Heyboer Rocket transformer it was 20-22 watts clean (can't remember the exact figure) 26 watts at full clip.

Great news! I wouldn't have guessed shielding. I'm very pleased to hear the Exprolo is fully operational. Now we need some clips!!

Re: rocket with tremolo circuit?
Ok, a couple preliminary ideas. One end of .1 cap with the blue wire looks like it's got less solder than the others, I 'd check that. Also the mounting bolt for the trem board looks like it's awfully close to that lead from the .01 cap. Maybe some heat shrink over that? They might be fine. I'm thin...

Re: rocket with tremolo circuit?
The oscillating means it's working. It should stop when you ground the grid with the footswitch, of course. So, tremolo on everything works right...when you ground the tip of the footswitch jack to turn off the tremolo, you get the buzz. When you then put the meter on the cathode to check the voltag...

Re: rocket with tremolo circuit?
The cathode follower will not add any voltage gain. Ups, you are right. It has nothing to do with it. It´s for low output impedance. Comes from writing byside work :? Please allowe me one detail more: as on 6g3 and Princeton Rev. Schemata one 1M goes to ground but the other (in line with the FS goe...
