nice build - I've got a 5C1 build here myself, well, sorta. its started out as a 5C1 with grid leak biased 6SJ7 and 6V6 (ss rectified). now it has a grid leak first stage and cathode biased second stage using a 6SL7 (which I like better). my little amp also has a line out feature and a 25w wirewound...

I installed a filtered IEC inlet in an amp that had a fixed mains cord and noticed no improvement in mains hum. I wouldn't bother in a guitar amp, but thats my experience.

btw, that switch on the Dr.Z is likely to be a split-load plate switch on the second stage since it's a 'wreck-inspired amp (like the switch on the Komet) To what post are you responding??? the OP mentions the fast/gradual switch on the Dr.Z 'wreck' earlier in the thread - should've quoted the post...

I've only ever seen the centre shield tied to ground once, ever. It was on a croc-skin Selmer T&B mkI head. You can ignore the centre shield on a 9-pin socket, or tie it to ground for a convenient spot to hook up the shield on shielded wire runs to the grids. Great thanks so much....this forum has ...
