Re: [Question] Master or post PI bright cap

The 68pF cap in #002 is a shunt cap. It's there to roll off some highs and prevent oscillations.. Concerning the 68pF bright cap in #102 in my recent build for some reason (maybe because of too much staring at schematics) I used there a 15pF cap. After playing the amp for some time and checking many...

Re: Lowest price Dumble clones in Europe?

I’m pretty much done with the amp. Now it’s time for experiments with the tone and eventually some samples which will be recorded by a friend of mine because I’m not the best guitar player in the world. Unfortunately at this time he has only a Greenbacks closed back slant cabinet which from what I k...

Re: Lowest price Dumble clones in Europe?

The close eyletts thing was a miscalculation. I intended to put a connector there but then drilled larger diameter holes. I'll add some some heat shrink tubing on every other eylett just in case. I made some more mistakes during the wiring but nothing fatal for a first such build. Concerning the Sta...

Re: Alternate parts for D-style amps?

Note in reply #2 of the thread there is a comment about the Jupiter yellow caps being similar to the Orange Drop 225 which has been reported to be the "same" cap as the Orange Drop PS. (I do not know if that is correct?) Wasn't there a thread where somebody from the factory confirmed that 6PS were ...

Re: NFB and switchable impedance speaker switches

Theory of course is much more complicated but for our purposes I don't feel like diving so deep and would prefer to make it simple.
It sounds like you already went this way - play with it until you like it and in the mean time make sure weird things don't happen.

Re: NFB and switchable impedance speaker switches

I have couple of ON-ON-ON toggle switches so I may add one for more options.

Re: NFB and switchable impedance speaker switches

I think there's another situation when you build a 50Watt version of a 100W amp and have a multitap OT. If in the original 100 Watt version the FB resistor was tied to the 4 Ohm tap then in a 50 Watt version then the same value resistor should go to the 8 Ohm tap, right? I've seen some TwoRock amps ...

Re: dumble kit

Tubetown and Tubeampdoctor for example are fully capable of offering a full kit but it's not available. TAD are even offering an assembly service at 50E per hour (oops) so I guess it's a matter of demand otherwise why would they miss the opportunity?

Re: dumble kit

If you are looking for a kit, Ceriatone is your only choice. It's ridiculous, isn't it? One can source all parts necessary from European online stores yet nobody in Europe is offering a kit. Most of the kits you can find are few Marshalls and couple of Fenders. If they can do those how come they do...

Re: Lowest price Dumble clones in Europe?

If shipping is included it's a good price compared to what you can find in online stores especially for those of us who live in an EU country.

Re: Lowest price Dumble clones in Europe?

Did you get then to add an additional 6v secondary for your relays? The transformer I ordered had the following specs: Primaries 220-230-240V Secondaries 2x345V/ 250mA 50V/ 100mA (separate winding) 6.3V/4A 15V/100mA (for 12V regulated relays) Now that you asked after checking the transformer more c...

Re: Lowest price Dumble clones in Europe?

I ordered the power transformers from a small business locally. They would do single "unfinished" pieces to the specs you provide. I got lucky they didn't have much work these days so I got it by the end of the week. By unfinished I meant no endbells so I had to order them separately, then drill and...

Re: Lowest price Dumble clones in Europe?

After looking at different designs I decided to include some parts that are not very typical for these amps. I've seen some builders using the jewel light so why not. I also like those shiny metal nut jack sockets.
