Re: What's up with Shad/Quinn Amps?
It really pains me to read all of this about Shad, here and on TGP. A few years ago, I was new to this forum, joining because I was having a great time with my Ceriatone OTS. I liked what I was getting out of the amp, more so after learning more about it here and elsewhere. I have a medical situatio...

To what extent did HAD voice an amp for a customer?
I read from time to time that HAD would build an amp with a particular customer's needs in mind. I haven't read anything about how this was done. What aspects of an amp's design and construction where the result of working with the player in the shop?

I am interested in reading your dissertation. Can you please post it? Thanks. No, I cannot post it. The copyright is owned by the University of California. If you're serious and not just trolling, PM me, and I'll provide you the titles of journal articles that I've published, that were based on my ...

Re: Looks like Quinn is going under
I have had very good interactions with Shad and Karin. Shad and I have had some wonderful discussions, and he gives me good advice. He built two 15w SDOs (his version of ODS), and is now working on two Trainwreck type 15w amps. I always get a reply within a day or two.

Re: Badcat Unleash
The Unleash sounds great. It is much more transparent than the Weber attenuators that I have used my my Ceriatone OTS and Quinn SDO. All of the nuances that I get without an attenuator are very much present. Since my Quinn is 15w, if I ever need more volume, the Unleash will boost up to 100w. The on...

Re: Badcat Unleash
I forgot to mention that I would use this with a Quinn SDO, and wondered if anyone has tried it with any other D-style amp.jelle wrote:Why is this in the Dumble section? I think it is more appropriate for a more general section.

Badcat Unleash
I posted a similar thread in the Dumble Discussion forum. What do you think about this: http://www.badcatamps.com/unleash.html. It sits between the speaker out and the speaker. It attenuates and boosts up to 100 watts. I use Weber attenuators at home, and feel OK about them. But this seems to be a m...

Re: How to get OD with a Trainwreck?
Thanks, these comments help. I just wasn't turning the amp volume up much, which is why I want a lower watt version. The Mass helps a lot with the Ceriatone, which is 50w.

How to get OD with a Trainwreck?
Some history. I bought a Ceriatone OTS several years ago and loved it. I later had Shad build me two 15w SDOs, which I really love. I have been searching for a while and really feel very close to these amps. I play blues with an Epi Dot and a ceramic Tone Tubby 12". I use a Fuch Verbrator in the fx ...

Re: Presence on/off values
Thanks so much. This sounds like what is going on. I really do apologize for posting here instead of Discussion. It was just a brain mis-fire. Just now, I was in Discussion looking for my post and couldn't find it. Duh. Yes, if a Mod could move it over to Discussion, that would be great. Sorry for t...

Presence on/off values
I have a Quinn ODS 18w that Shad built for me. I am crazy in love with this amp, and expect it to be my main one for years, if not decades. I want to understand the presence control a little better. Just going by ear, my two bandmates thought it had a 2khz range. When I turn the knob to 2, the effec...

Favorite ODS settings
I love to experiment with different sounds on my Quinnamp SDO. It seems that there is not an un-useful sound in it. Everything sounds good. I would love to know what others here are using for their favorite settings. If there is a resource for this online, I would certainly like to know about it. Bu...

Dumble-modded Twin
There is a thread on the TDPRI forum about someone who has a 72 Twin modded by Dumble:

He is thinking about possibly selling it to help pay for college tuition and wonders what it is worth.

D-Manuals
The only manual I have seen for a D-style amp is by Ceriatone. Can someone point me to others? Is the Jesse Schwartz book good, and is it still available?
