Re: Did Dumble reverse polarities in his cabs?
If we look at Robbens rig and how he sets it up, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzVq9JsBLsI In this type stereo setup he needs to pay attention to phasing issues...So it makes sense for him to use a phase reversed cable to be in phase with his Super when he runs them together and in Stereo!!!..Here...

Re: Did Dumble reverse polarities in his cabs?
When reversing polarity I do it at the speaker jack not the speakers, so RF's cab could be reversed. When you reverse one cab you need to also do the other if you are playing in stereo. I wonder if RF or his tech would have reversed all the different cabs each night, rental twins etc.

Re: chewy notes on D-style amps
That's correct. In this video Larry says nothing about using his guitar knobs. He uses pick sensitivity only.

Re: chewy notes on D-style amps
I recalling reading that Larry Carlton doesn't use a foot switch - that he just leaves the amp in OD and controls everything else from the guitar. Is that true? No. He uses the footswitch for both clean and OD and also uses a dumble modded showbud volume pedal to control volume and gain. He may als...

Re: What are the settings on your Dumbleator?
When running parallel the norm is to set the FX to 100% wet or killdry, otherwise there can be a comb filtering effect.Do I need to use the parallel/killdry settings on the TC or just leave it series and rely on the 25K mix?

Re: chewy notes on D-style amps
I've had Dumble clones before that were voiced similar to this one that didn't have harshness at low volumes. So I know it can be done. With my 102 with the bright cap in the key to smooth OD at any volume was where the master was set. Depending on the the taper of the pot it should be between 4-7 ...

Re: chewy notes on D-style amps
I have a 102 and have used a bunch of different value bright caps and currently have no bright cap and the OD is easier to manage. No harshness at all. I like the amp better this way. However the chewy reference Jing Chi recording has the bright cap. RF playes loud though. It's gonna sound different...

Re: chewy notes on D-style amps
It will make the OD less bright. Thanks for the suggestion. What exactly will that do for the tone?

Posted: Tue Nov 26, 2013 10:49 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I put the 47pf cap on the MV, and the brightness is perfect! However, it's a bit too harsh. Not much though. The more you turn up the master the less affect the cap will ...

Re: What are the settings on your Dumbleator?
Also, AFAIR I don't believe there is an analog path in the 2290. It's all AD converted, but with an unusual ADC running at 1MHz that changes its dynamic range on the fly. Many think that ADC is magic. The 2290 has an internal parallel mixer, the dry tone is not converted. Just checked the block dia...

Re: chewy notes on D-style amps
That's what I've been doing - MV around noon or so. And I use the Dumbleator as a master volume. But that raises another question. The cleans on the amp are very dark, not bright at all. I know these amps are supposed to have kind of a Fendery clean. Other than the bright cap on the MV, what else d...

Re: What are the settings on your Dumbleator?
I have a 2290 that sounds great because of the analog dry path but even the higher end Lex PCM series will benefit from some type of mixer/ parallel routing to aviod the digi conversion. I have a PCM 80 and I'm using an older inexpensive Roland M120 rack line mixer and it sounds great. You can pick ...

Re: chewy notes on D-style amps
The RF Jing Chi ODS clip has a 68pf bright cap on the master. Just this alone will make a big difference in the OD tone vs. no bright cap. Adding the cap and using the D lator changes the character of the OD quite a bit.

Check out the new Don Mare Twangzilla PU for fantastic RF tones. His 60 tele also has threaded steel saddles. My high plate 102 kills with a tele.

Re: 102 Feedback City
Tony that amp sounds amazing! Love the corners on the new cab.
I have a Bludo 102. It does the feedback on command thing pretty well.
