How about an old Dynaco 4300 ohm tranny from a Stereo 70?? Would it work with 6L6's, or should I stick to EL34's? What about a MKIII (70 watt 4300ohm) output ?
Thanks, D

Re: dumbleator type loop
Mine is not neat. I just crammed it in there (carefully) and haven't looked back. No, I won't post a picture 'cause it looks scary in there.

Re: Sweet...
Have you tried different values for the resistor at the "tail" end of the bass control? The older amps have 1.8k and newer (Skyliner?) have 10k. I liked the small resistance when I first tried it, but it's been a few years. Just curious as to your (all of you) opinions.

Re: 3 Channel Fender/Dumble amp layout/ PICS ADDED
I did a similar thing, but used a Marshall preamp on one side and a Dumble on the other. I made it so I could use the overdrive on either side. The Marshall preamp into the Dumble overdrive circuit sounds great also!!
Good luck with your project and thanks for the layout drawing.

Re: So which Dumble clone comes closest?
My opinion only: I have played the real thing, a Two Rock, and a Top Hat. I have built 3 clones myself. All of them were different, but all are wonderful. Since HAD's product evolved over the years, I don't think any one is "closest" to the real thing. The Two Rock was restrained or constrained, if ...

Re: EL34 vs 6V6
My best suggestion would be to just plug them in and see for yourself. I hope that doesn't sound cold, but everyone doesn't agree on subjective things like tone. I like the V's when I need absolutely no headroom and just a creamy, soft lead tone. Also, my band mates like the V's better because they ...

Re: HERESY???
That's correct. Andy Fuchs, Two Rock, Top Hat, and others have made quite a few amps from certain unprotected designs, and they are still in business. It's too bad Mr. Dumble didn't sell all those amps himself. I certainly enjoy the clones I built for myself. The Top Hat clone I played was absolutel...

Re: Trainwreck Express videos
I for one would love a vintage Celestion lesson. I keep hearing about green/black label, pre- and not-pre Rola, and cone types. Is there a site or reference area that I could access to do some homework? I love my '74 slant front Marshall cabinet, but know nothing about what makes it special. I know ...

Is this the same Celestion speaker you have in your box?
This is from '74. I'm pretty un-educated in Celestion lore.

observation of old news?
Has anyone else noticed that the first triode gain stage of the amp goes to pin 7 of V1 and also the "live" input to the PI. Pin 2 of the PI is grounded. I was curious if there was a "known" difference in why Mr. KF did it that way??----D. ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

caps across the diodes
Could someone please educate me about the caps I often see across power supply diodes? Why and what values?
Please excuse my ignorance as I am not formally educated in electronics.
Thanks, Dobb
