KT66 Rocket Reverb

Post by Bob S »

It started life as an Express & morphed into this.
Normster, Mark Fowler, RJ & a few others did the major r&d - thank you all.
Pacific iron around 405 at the reservoir. 5k2/6k6 ot wired 5k2.
Fixed bias - might make that switchable to catthode bias. PPIMV - no NFB.
It will get boost/reverb floor switches.
Anyone planning one - check internal cabinet height. KT66's are tall & you need a little breathing room between the reverb pan & the tubes.
This one has a short pan mounted above the pre-amp section.
Sounds good to my old ears - nice sustain - cranked it's got lots of crunch going on. It'll take a couple of weeks to get some clips.
Next.

Great Job, I think you'll be delighted with how this works out and how diverse the tones you'll get from her plus I expect it will be very pedal friendly as well.

I especially like that clever use of the old power supply board...

nice work!

He told me brown=fizzy, now you say Blue=fizzy too. :? What about Orange?
I hope Orange is ok or I may as well just stop building amps.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Jeff, but orange is the fizziest of all.
Please send all your amp building stuff to me.
:P
I noticed before that we have the same rug Mark. Nice. Mine was a gift from my neighbor after her guy passed away. Always reminds me of him - George

Yes,
Mark is "The Dude" alright. He's helped me a lot over the past two years and answered a bunch of dumb newbie questions no problem.
At one point there it looked like he was cranking out an amp everyday.

Thanks Mark for all your help....getting my KT66 Rockster going too.
