Re: Squeal and Bass Boom from Trainwreck Express
What head cab are you mounting it into? I didnt bother with a bottom plate I stuck aluminum foil to the bottom of my head cab so the chassis sits on it when its inside the cab.
Re: Squeal and Bass Boom from Trainwreck Express
I have attached the bottom plate several ways, like the TW build guide shows with a bunch of predrilled small screw holes around the perimeter.
Second I'll put long mounting bolts through the rubber feet and attach the bottom plate and chassis through the four holes on the sides (chassis mounting holes). Can use double sided tape to keep bottom panel in place on the chassis while attaching.

Right now I don't have any immediate plans to mount into a cabinet.
What I don't understand is how the bolt is supposed to stay in place. The chassis only has four small holes for attaching the bottom plate: https://images.campyent.com/sites/defau ... 4-1053.png
Do I need to attach a nut to the inside of the chassis somehow?

Oh on a Hammond or Bud chassis like that I sometimes just use sheet metal screws.
Or drill for rivet nuts (I prefer steel over aluminum nuts) and use machine screws.
Those slip on threaded clips work too.

My last build went into a Hammond box with a cage. I did as Mark suggests and just used sheet metal screws.

Found some suitable screws, works well.
Does anyone have any experience gigging with an amp not in a cabinet? Is it too risky?

As long as only you carry it in and out of the gig. Bandmates are careless with my gear.apache wrote:Found some suitable screws, works well.

I've made rough plywood boxes screwed together before as a temporary head shell and used on a gig.
