Express # 2 complete

Post by stevek66 »

Well,I had enjoyed building my first Express so much,I decided to build another.Fired her up yesterday and she sounds just as amazing as my first. Both builds came out real quiet,no hum.Named her "Juanita".
She's on the bottom.Next is a Liverpool.

Cheers Steve

Nice looking cabs! You make them as well?

Did you build them up the same? Or do any variations?

If they are built from the same parts, no variations, have you noticed any quirks or differences?

So lts see some insides shots!

Hey Eric,
Yes I made the cabs.I built both to Francesca specs.
Trannies are from Chris at Toneslut, but I used his newer OT on both.
Thier is a little difference between the amps sound wise.Really subtle difference as the new one sounds alittle brighter and maybe alittle tighter in the lowend at same settings.I imagine once it gets played in it will mellow a bit.I don't find either amp overly bright by the way.I run treble about 11:00,mids about 12:00 and bass at 10 to 11:00 with pres about 1:00.
Both sound magic with my 56 goldtop reissue.
Thanks Steve

There just isn't any reason to fail with that layout is there? Great job. By the way, I like 'em with blue knobs better  (inside joke)

Hey Thanks, and your right. That layout just ends up sounding superb.
My only dislike is the filter caps.Next one I'm gonna use cap cans instead.
Thanks again , Steve

Hello stevek66,

I would loooove to hear a clip or 2! Looks great in there!

I'm assuming you took the picture before you were done with the amp? The only reason I say that is there isn't a connection to pin 6 of the P.I. tube...

Have a great day--

Hi Shermock,

I would love to be able to do clips.I do have Live 6 installed on my computer but haven't figured it out just yet.I have recorded some stuff, however the audio sucks.I don't have my computer optimized correctly or have to much junk on my computer.I will make some clips in a few weeks at my bands rehearsal studio. Thanks Steve
