Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
just took some voltage readings and at 120v from the wall
I am only getting 260v on B+1
my cathode tubes are at 28.0v
I was expecting around 300 volts
????
Bnwitt here you go !!!!

Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
ok fixed the low voltage problem ......
it helps to ground the 220k resistors to feeding the power tubes
oooops!!!!!!!!!

Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
Look in the Rocket documents sticky in the files section- there's a voltage chart that shows the expected values....
PM me, I have a TW pilot light I can spare...

Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
OK ,
so here's the latest
when I flip the standby switch on I get this loud surge of noise almost as if leaves were being rustled but very amplified
also a bit if popping then it settles down
I wait quite a while for the recto to warm up
also it seems as if the tone controls are almost on off switches at 0 on the treble it is fine then as I turn it up you can hear this very definite click or thunk sound when the treble jumps up
also the bass when turned up to max you can also get this thunk sound
I have a feeling it is a ground issue but I am not sure
I don't know what to make of the first issue though
sorry to be so long winded
but does anyone have any suggestions ??
Dan.........
thanks for your time

Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
just a hunch - are you sure your pots are OK?

Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
Do you have a voltage chart?
Have you a better picture of the pot wiring?

Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
I was wondering about the pots
I reflowed the connections on the treble and bass pots and
it seems all is well
I did a mock install of the chassis into the cabinet
then I powered it up and started losing power
and could hear some slight crackling and fizzing notes
I looked at the power tubes and one pair was red plating
I shut the standby down and turned it on again then all was ok
I removed the chassis and looked at my P.I. connections and re flowed
those
seems to be ok now but I am worried the red plating may happen again

Re: Almost done !!! #12 Rocket of group build
Double-check your bias circuit. Reflow if need be.
Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...
