Most excellent Mark! Looks much nicer than the rag tag hybrid amp I posted at the start of this thread. Guess I'll have to get busy and finish the full power version I have in the works.

I really like your power supply layout.

Now we just gotta hear some clips!

That is a beautiful build Mark. I'm almost done with my "kelly A1b/A1a" build. I'll post pics soon!

Here's the latest one, a fairly accurate repro Express. Note quite done, but pretty close...

Wow, what a screamer... no subtlety here...

Thats nice Doc, I've been so lazy....My wreck is almost done and I need to put another two hours max into it.

I just finished my 18 watt bluesbreaker trem built into a real marshall bluesbreak RI cab and My BallBreaker 18 (18 watt TMB with a plexi preamp and single channel) It rocks! I halfway through a firefly and I have a 36 watt TMB and JTM45 on deck

I'll include an almost done wreck pic.

well, if the truth be known, I have an almost finished 18Watt Lite2 thats been cluttering up the bench for the better part of a year, and I still havent found time to finish it... I've built these two plus another small amp in the last few months, but just can get to the 18 watt...

too many amps, not enough time...

Doc, there is something special soundin about the 18 watt. Heres a pic of my combo. The cabinet is a real Marshall BB RI with green backs.

Maybe we're all suffering from AOS (amplifier obsessive syndrome).

nice looking combo there! OK, you shamed me into it... I'm finishing the 18watter now while I have a few days off. I cant believe I've let it sit so long. All I have left to do is wire up the selector switch and the output jacks - I did everything else yesterday.

I've actually already got an 18 watt - I bought Paul Ruby's original prototype from a fellow amp builder about a year ago. They have nice dynamics depending on your pick attack.

Those all look really cool! :)

I took a different approach on mine. I took a JTM45 chassis and put it in a short box head. Everything worked perfectly. I ended up using 2 can caps and one axial cap on the board for the power supply. I added a pre-PI master volume. Other than that, "Kaitlyn" is her name.

P.S. Sorry for the lousy pictures. I took those with my old camera. :(

I see that most of you guys are using Mallory 150 type coupling caps instead of Orange Drops ... any reason for this? A lot of Ken's amps seem to be built with Orange Drops.

I started with Orange Drops. They are nice. I shifted to M150's as an experiment in tone. I had heard that they had a little more grit and grind in the midrange. I think that is true...but it is just a little, to my ears. I also have amps with OD's and think that they sound splendid.

I don't think Ken was using OD's, was he? They look like a black cap of sorts in the ginger pics. I don't really have any idea.
