Quoth the Lonely Raven: "Imagine a black board with the blue resistors that have gold plated leads"

Yeah, those Riken resistors. I used them in a build once--very nice, but mucho dinero!

If you got a can of that colored dipping latex from Home Depot you could color-dip every component for perfect color coordination!

I think the Rikens would look nice with the yellow Sozos.

Got mine done today. Fired her up with no problems. I really like it so far, although my baby was taking a nap when I was trying it out, so I really couldn't play too loud. I built this to replace my AC30 Reissue that I sold. I used the OT from that amp in my build. I did my ground bus ala Dumble, I wasn't gonna wait eons for those pot ground clips! I tacked in some ceramic disc caps (missing on the pics) until the micas come tomorrow. I'm curious if they will sound much different. Thanks to RJ and everyone else in this Rocket build. Now only thing left to decide is "what do I build next?"

Hey congrats on the build. It is one fine amp. I am having a blast with this amp. The cleans are just the best, and when you hit 6 or 7 its rumble time.

cheers Ange

Next build

So what is the next build. I might take a crack at an Express with VVR.

Way Cool to see all these amps coming together... I know there are a couple others out there too. I sent mine up to a studio in Colorado and it got rave reviews... O.K. guys we gotta get some clips - these amps are too cool to keep under wraps.

I've been slowing chewin' away at a project where I'm using all VOX iron in a Rocket chassis, then adding Dana's VVR? I had a custom chassis made to accomdate the VOX iron and the can caps, then had it anodized in black. I also added some nut inserts for component mounting... what do you think?

RJ, that is a beauty ! My Rocket Mach II is coming along... thanks for the second chassis/faceplate/board set.

Question : Where did you get the nut inserts, and how can I add them to the chassis you just sent me? The chassis mounting holes are drilled on that one. Do you have a vendor & part # you can share?

For my 2nd Rocket-inspired amp, I will try something different in the power supply - I am thinking a choke-filtered plate supply and the Liverpool-style 1K/25W resistor feeding the screen supply. In the pre-amp, I am going to try the Panasonic caps we have seen in this thread.

I will also include the half-power option, and the VVR, because I found them so handy from my first Rocket Build.

I will let you know how it looks /sounds in a few weeks ! Cheers !

Hey that is easy... http://www.smallparts.com/Steel-Self-Cl ... B0013HKHY8

The one thing I will say about them is that they are challenging to seat into the chassis. I had to use a press. Initially I tried to just pull them in using a screw, but that didn't work and they were still setting up off the chassis a bit.

If you get a system figured out, they make the assembly really simple for mounting... and the umpteen thousand times that I remove and remount trannies... I'm just a slow learner.

I haven't wired up a VVR yet, but I saw somebodies... maybe even Curbdogs where they mounted it on the back of that front panel behind the Rocket logo. That's where I think I'll put mine but haven't decided where to put the control pot yet...
