OK folks I think I have it sussed out...I just checked the BULB resistances for comparison:

my brand-new 6.3v bulb - about 7 ohms

A standard 60watt bulb (from my limiter even) 160 ohms

MY little 110v T3 -- 3.8 MEG ohms. Its GOTTA have something to do with it, the bulb itself I mean. Too bad I don't have another to swap out. But I will know conclusively after I wire the 6.3 to heaters. Yes, Mark, I'm going to check it for shorting yet again before I do! Feelin' a bit paranoid now!

Problem solved. 6.3 volts is working just as intended. Still wondering whats up with that, probably would have worked with 120v if I had just not been such a scrooge as to go buy a new bulb. But hey, I already HAD a brand new 6.3. That woulda been at least 2 bucks! And that's a couple of beers.

OK well a friend of mine is a retired cabinet maker. So he's going to build a "real" wreck cab from the spec we have here on the forum. In the meantime, I'm re-purposing this old (crappy mdf) combo cabinet just because the width was an exact match. It came out a little taller than I needed but will work for the next few weeks while he builds a "good" cab...nothing like I've seen here from Mikey and others, but it will at least be solid. In the meantime I'll be able to gig it.

Yeah that is very cool... I get a few requests for amp packages to fit into old LINE-6 cabinets. For the most part they are Rocket style amps with reverb but some guys have made Liverpool combo amps with decent results.

The traditional Wreck cabinet is great art work but what you have there will stand up to the road and you won't set it on fire and jump off it during your shows.

LOL RJ, true. Notice the 1x2 blocking I glued, screwed and nailed into the corners because my inherent distrust of MDF runs deep. Now I "probably" could stand on it, but only if its on my 2-12 cab, since I can't climb high enough to scale the 4-12 after blowing out my knee 3 years ago.
