A quick clip of my TWreck clone
Finally had a couple of minutes to record my amp. I haven't taken pics yet but I wanted to share. Granted, this was done at very low volumes (just above TV) and I had to place the mic on a chair. It gets a crazy amount of gain (I think I had it up to only 7) and the lower frequencies become more pronounced as I turn it up but it was fun do. I do plan on recording it at a louder volume and micing it better but you get the idea.

Elcabong,
I was using a Les Paul Standard with Voodoo pickups through a 2X12 with Celestion Greebacks.

That's great tone.
I was listening with headphones so I got the full 'wow!' effect when the 2nd guitar came in. Now how come we don't have that head-banging-smiley dude icon here?
REemind me - does your amp have MV? Because I don't equate a setting of 7 on the volume dial with being 'just above TV' loud!

Loverocker,
Yeah, it's got a PPIMV in it. It gives maximum grind at lower volumes. It's funny, when you turn up the Master the distortion lessens and the bass starts to get more pronounced. I A/B'd it with my revamped Marshall Plexi RI today and I'm having a hard time deciding which one I like better. I hate to say the plexi is in the lead but we shall see.

Hey ricks57custom
That's an amazing sounding clip! We're neighbors here in Scottsdale as well. It would be great to talk sometime as I'm really into Marshall's and building amps. Shoot me an email at steveo13@cox.net if you have some time and we'll talk.
Thanks
Steve

Re: A quick clip of my TWreck clone
ricks57 - well your crunchy clip was quite comparable to a non-MV Marshall. But I presume the TW-clone also gives you what the Marshall can't - the more compressed and smoother overdrive lead tone?
In my semi-Liverpool clone, I got a tone out of my Tele's neck pickup that I've never got out of a pre-1980s Marshall.
Interesting that the PPIMV was so successful - noted for future use

Re: A quick clip of my TWreck clone
Yes it does sound fantastic. I too would like to know circuit version design details.
Re: A quick clip of my TWreck clone
If you look down the list, there is a thread about this build, "Finishing a TWreck A4"
Re: A quick clip of my TWreck clone
Hi Ricks57, What version were you using in that build? That sounds amazing! Exactly what I'm looking for. I'm almost done with my A1A version. I'd like to know what if any changes I should make. I absolutely love the sound of your 'wreck.

I don't want to answer in place of Ricks57 but just mention a couple of threads about this build:

Re: A quick clip of my TWreck clone
Hey... Sounds terrific!!!
What taps are you using in the OT?
Too much gain? I think is perfect for my playing!
