Vox AC30CC2 HELP NEEDED

Post by bkvance »

Hey guys,

I really need you help! I was playing my AC30 yesterday and all of a sudden the amp started humming and all sound was lost but then as I strummed the strings again a very crazy sound came out of it. It was like I had a distortion pedal hooked up and cranked up. I replaced all the tubes including the rectifier and still the same this a loud hum that swells and the sting noise is still there. Im lost at this point so please help me !!

Thanks,
Keith [/b]

I'm not sure I can help much. Typically, this sort of thing indicates a bad connection. It could be a wire, though I doubt it. I've been in a couple and wiring is okay. A power supply cap may have come loose. It's a matter of tearing it open and hoping you find a big black spot. There's 300 some odd volts DC when these things are working. Be careful and if you're not used to this sort of work, get help or take it to a tech.

Thanks for the help, I ended up taking it to a Tech as I didn't have the time or tools to address it after all.

Thanks,
BKV
