Tolex!
I had trouble with the white, when I brushed the contact cement on, it would (melt?) it. Finally only put the cement on the cab, and sprayed 3M 77 on the tolex, and that worked.

CC on cab spray on tolex is how I always do it anyways.

Bravo! It can play The Star-Spangled Banner for sure ;^)... Or La Marseillaise (when looking at the back side).
Very nice job.

That amp makes me homesick.
You should not use solvent based contact adhesive on tolex. It'll soften and stretch and in time pull back and your corner cuts will show. Use something waterbased.

Re: Patriotic Bandit!
I have used Weldwood for years, and no problems. I tried some of the "non-toxic" contact cement once, but it is really slow to cure, so I went back to the smelly stuff. Using a spray on the tolex itself sure is easier, and I think I will use that process when I do my next recover.
I think the white tolex itself, is a different composition than the red/blue. The colors were about $15 a yard, but the white was only $9! (Same vendor).
I guess if I had the time, I would learn to use "hyde" glue, like Leo did, I understand a crock pot generates enough heat to get it ready to apply.
