Name and sources of 'beading'?

Post by daxliniere »

Hey all,

I've redone the Tolex on a few amps, but I'd like to 'strike out' and do some more interesting designs. For this I will need some of that 'beading' that is used at Tolex join lines. Trouble is, I don't know what it's called!
Can anyone enlighten me as to the name and suggest some sources? (UK, US, China..?)

The Tolex design work on this amp sim plugin has got me excited to try it.

Thank you in advance,
Dax.

I have only tried once to use it around the speaker baffle, and realized that it requires more setback to look right. I assume one cuts a groove in the cab for the look you are going for, I'm curious what pitfalls you might encounter!

Yes, I'm figuring that a shallow cut with a circular saw (track saw, mitre saw, etc) should provide the required relief for the piping lip and 2 layers of Tolex.
