Well, that came out great. And 50lbs is better than 76lbs or whatever a plywood 4x12 works out to, but I think that's close. What do you think of the four Blue speakers, tonally. Absolute magic or about as good as any other combination of speakers?
Re: Radiata pine 4x12 with Celestion Blues
This - absolute magic - with the right amp and somewhat with the right pickups.
Magic with an AC30 [ish] Satellite Atom and a JTM45 [ish] Satellite Cuda. Also nice with a JTM45 running KT66s. I believe Adam @ Satellite voiced the amps for / toward single coils and they just shine with P90's and Tele singles. Humbuckers are nice but not as lively as the singles. I tend to prefer HB's with Marshalls and will be testing amps and cabs/speakers to fine those peanut butter & jelly combinations and stop accepting the peanut butter and liver ones.
I wired up a OD/dirt pedal board to do testing of these at volume as well.

Really nice work! Wanted to see if you had a good resource for building my first cabinet?
Re: Radiata pine 4x12 with Celestion Blues
Thank you.
Longer answer than you probably want.
If you know what configuration you want AKA # of speakers and what range you want from the cab AKA open [more airy] or closed [more controlled] I recommend looking at existing cabinets for inspiration. I'd ignore the T/S parameters which are more fitting for HiFi and - in my opinion - don't take into consideration that a guitar cab contributes mojo to the final heard tone whereas the the HiFi is about dead/neutral/zero mojo pure recorded signal reproduction.
There isn't a perfect speaker size / volume [this is good news] and i suspect most cabs are copies of others - Marshall 1960, 1936, Mesa, EV cabs with some tweaks. Nor a set recipe for a 'covers everything'. To me the amp, speakers, cab, pickups are in descending order of importance. And of course music. Thrash vs. jazz have very different needs.
Same for materials used and wall thickness. There is some validity of 'tone woods' here and I know from experience that some woods are darker, brighter and or livelier that last one is why I chose Radiata pine for all sides and the baffle. I like solid woods and mostly BB style ply for backs and baffles. If you're using modern glues like Titebond fancy joints - finger style , dovetail are more for showing off and appearance than structural requirements. Front loaded or rear loaded - your choice. I like rear loaded as the mfg's all have a cork gasket and I can put the grill cloth directly on the baffle.
As far as existing plans there aren't a lot I typically copy a mfg's exterior dimensions and go from there. EV has published plans for 1-4 speaker cabs, I've copied Marshall's 1960 A & B cabs [preferred the B] and I am very impressed with Zilla's cabs as they seem to focus on engineering for good tones vs just fitting an amplifier head. Unless you're using EV style speakers for detuned music I'd avoid ports - an oversized cab can deliver good low end.
What amp[s], music and speaker[s] are you going to use? You are welcome to ask all of the questions you have - this is an experienced forum and helpful.
