Oak can be very tough to work with.

John,

Yes, I used RJs Single End Eagle design and added a tone pot. Only my second build.

Most of the oak people get hasn't been properly dried.Dries to fast in the kiln and not allowed to sit long enough before the kiln.

Makes it want to split like a bitch.

I just got 500' O fbeuatiful 12-16" wide redoak that is has all kinds of splits and cracks in it.I'm pretty pissed at my supplier right now.Its going to cause a lot of extra work and a lot of waste

Well made head and cab, I have not heard and oak cabinet so i am curious as to how it sounds compared to cherry or maple in open back cabs. I am using mostly EVM 12Ls

Now I just have to try to make enough money with it to pay my bill next month.

AmpExplorer,

I used a Weber Signature Series 12 inch. I can only compare this cab with a "Poor Man's Cherry" Alder Combo amp with the same speaker. I would say that the Oak sounds just a hair bit brighter.

I agree, nice half blinds. I haven't tried dovetailing - just simple finger or box joints - whatever they're called. Tried it on pine first then on oak. Guess I got lucky at Home Depot; it worked pretty good, though it did want to tear out a little. But I just did head cabs.

That's a really nice pair. Well done.
