Re: Express Documents
This is supposed to be a thread dedicated to Express documents - not searches for parts or build support. There are other parts of the forum for that.

+1
It would be nice if a mod could remove this stuff so that it doesn't contaminate this sticky forever.

Re: Express Documents
I'll throw him a bone..
The Mallory TC series are not that plentiful and stoopidly expensive. RJ Guitars was selling some a while back. Personally, I'd use F&T if I built another one.
The other smaller caps can be substituted with similar Mallory caps. Or try something else for flavor. These were chosen as reasonable subs for what Ken used, they are not gospel.
For the MOV, just find a similar variant, again, not gospel.

Mallory doesn't exist anymore, was acquired by Cornell Dubilier years ago but the capacitors code are the same. These are Mouser's codes about... 598-WBR40-350A, 598-WBR20-450A. They are very expensive. I used F&T and TreC. Sprague Atom are still suitable but ever expensive.

Re: Express Documents
Would any of you have created a drawing of the basic Express front panel layout with legends, in a computer readable format such as something compatible with Adobe Illustrator, or in PDF format?
My front panel plan is to have it laser burned on curly maple, including the artwork and portraiture.

Here is a PDF which is to scale and a match for the RJ Guitars Express reproduction chassis. I can make one to your specs if your hole spacing is not to the traditional values. I've had these laser engraved on wood before to great success.Matthews Guitars wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 4:33 pm Would any of you have created a drawing of the basic Express front panel layout with legends, in a computer readable format such as something compatible with Adobe Illustrator, or in PDF format?

Re: Express Documents
I used a Modulus chassis which I expect is standard Express pattern.
Here's a photo of the near finished amp. (Just needs that front panel.)

Re: Express Documents
Because I don't see it mentioned in the BOM, what's the "correct" kind of knobs to use on an Express clone?
