Greg, IMO it depends on what you call a "filter position":
In a mechanical sense I know of three mechanical versions you’ll find in Dumble amps:
One version with 7 mechanical positions corresponding to 7 position markers on the front plate. This version has one position marker in the 12:00 position and three on the am and three on the pm side. For some examples see the attached SSS 100W, SSS150W (SRV) and Dumbleland Special 150W pictures.
One version with 6 mechanical positions corresponding to 6 position markers on the front plate. This version doesn’t have a position marker in the 12:00 position. For an example see the 300SL picture attached to my next post.
One version with 11 mechanical positions corresponding to 11 position markers on the front plate. This version has one position marker in the 12:00 position and five on the am side and five on the pm side. For an example see the SSS 150W picture (Kirk Hammett) attached to my next post.
And AFAIK one of these 6, 7, or 11 mechanical positions is often a "bypass position".
And AFAIK there exist different versions concerning the total number of bypass position: No bypass position, one bypass position (High
or Low) and two bypass positions (High
and Low).
