Back to something usual, differences in mic positions...

Post by massygt6 »

I had some fun trying different position for my trusty sm57, hope you find this interesting.
The amp is the hybrid HRM, but this time is on the low gain side
Guitar is 2005 Les Paul Historic 1958
Thanks for listening.

Great comparison.

Personally I like the clarity of pos3. 1 is too brittle sounding, 2 and 4 too dark.

What is the speaker?

Thanks Bob...
Stock V30s in there.
3 is also my favourite for the sm57.

So, closer up but ~45 degrees off axis? I'm a total neophyte at this stuff but I know it's important.

The position I usually use at gigs is about a 30 degree angle, half way between the dome and edge and about 2" away from the grill.
