I use turrets. As Tony also said, they give you a good mechanical connection. I've learned to only wrap the wires. I also make sure the components are not loose in the hole before soldering.

why did you use such a wide piece of board? it looks like you could have ripped it down the center and made two.
There is a ground buss wire and then under that is a HT buss... this helps to keep the HT line away from the circuit. Yes, I could cram everything closer, but like Dumble, experimentation has revealed that this is a much quieter layout.

Also, the fact that this chassis is not as "tall" as a dumble, it makes tube sockets closer to the main board. I find this also helps keep the noise down to an extent.

turrets

Nice turret layout. Personally I have no problem with turrets, or straying from the layout. It's the tone that is the issue. Nothing built by anyone on this or any other forum is a "Dumble", so what does it matter. For Example, Red Plate does not utilize the Dumble layout, and they're practically imortalized here. (no offense Henry, just making the point) If it makes a beatiful noise when you plug a guitar into it all is good IMO.

I'd be interested in checking on of your boards out.
