No offense taken Tom. I put on the verb the way I like it, if you think its to much, tough shit. LOL! (Kidding)
This is pretty much MY tone with the 183. For ME, its the best OD tone I have ever heard. Combination amp and PRS CU22 semihollow. PRSs, or teles through a Dumble are matches made in heaven to my ears.

I am confused Your first post said it sounded thin (which sounded like it could be a phase issue) Your recent post you now say it's bloated.. So I don't know!!
I have heard many clips now of 183 and your right!!..What I hear in the OD side is the single note runs are fairly smooth and thick but the lower wound strings can sound at times to me a bit hairy and fuzzy when chording and double stoppin (250k drive and level pots adds lower mids).. I am not saying it's a bad thing but I wouldn't exactly call it smooth thing..Just my opinion.. Maybe the T Rex helps that..183 is a VERY COOL amp for sure!!
You can really hear it in these clips with the hollows
When I use the MV on the amp with a Dulator with my regular settings, it thins the tone to me and compresses it. When I crank it up and cut back with the dulator, it sounds and feels bloated. I just cant find a happy medium. With the Trex, it all sounds good to me.
On the lower strings, I would trust what you are hearing in those clips. My clip is the very first time I plugged into the amp, and I had no idea what it was going to sound like. Also, its into a Bogner cab with brand new vintage 30s. UGGHHH!!!! The other clip is Brads settings, and he and I could not disagree more on amp settings. We go for 2 totally different things, and 183 will do them both! Also, I know guys do not like me saying this, but unless you have played 183 or a Quinn, you do not know what the amp should sound like. Scotts GWs 183 "dead on clone" I played was not even in the ball park. It may have been a totally different build.
Here is a really simple clip of my 183 amp..it has 250k drive and levels.. You can hear the same type of thing smooth tones on the single runs but sort of a fuzzy thing around the lower notes..The D-lator does seem to help smooth this out to some degree, as does different guitars and speakers and different players touch..IMO this does alter the effect, however it never really goes away and smooths completely out until I run the amp up to relatively high volumes ...
I hear it (to some extent)on all the clips of 183 that have been posted on the www...
I think it's a cool effect if you can control it..
BTW Cab is a Marshall 4X10 so it is a bit brighter and in your face highs..

Thanks for posting it.
No problem Tom. I have so many posted. Some which really suck, and some that are pretty good. You just have to sort through them all. I tried to do many different styles and use many different settings.
