I'd love to know more about this clip. I can hear someone stepping on a foot switch. Can I assume this a channel in the amp and not a pedal? If so color me impressed. This is the first I've ever heard of Dumble modding a Marshall.

The cleans really appeal to me, and the overdrive tones seem to be a little different tonally. Hint of an ODS, but not quite as nasal.

Hmm. No description. Gotta wonder what's going on. Like Lefty says - Button sounds? It does sound nice though.

It has been discussed elsewhere:

Interesting thread with some bits and pieces concerning UP's.

There`s a OLD vtg guitar magazine where an obscure guitarist ( to me anyways) talks @ a HI gain marshall Alex did for him, he simply said it was as good as anything on market, but as always just "MORE of it" ( Jelle quote) Don`t have it, it was at a friends house, where i read that..

re: footswitch sound

From the comments section of the second video:

The amp was rebuilt by Dumble to an Ultra Phonix. The pedal is a Berkos Germanium Experience fuzz.

Now if he`d just take a Eric Johnson fuzz into a TS-10, and get on it!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info. It seems in the second vid he is using a germanium fuzz for the heavy distortion part. And he uses a boost pedal for the first vid.

EDIT: I should have refreshed before I posted this. Didn't see all the replies.

Thanks Nate, I was hoping you'd drop by. Do you have any clips of ODS channel? Those cleans and with the pedals sound fantastic.

EDIT: I guess I should ask what is the control layout and is it actually channel switching. I'm just trying to imagine how a Dumble-modded amp would be done with the standard Marshall layout.

As I understand it has a master volume in the back?

EDIT 2: Well, I thought I read all sixteen pages of the thread but I missed the first page.

So the Dumble modded Marshall is single channel, no ODS.

The amp doesn't really have difference channels like an ODS. It's inputs do have different levels of gain though. On the top left input, the amp stays really clean until about 12 o clock. After that gain comes on like an old Marshall, in terms of every turn of the volume adds a little more OD. Other inputs sound slightly different(different tone, gain, etc).

All these clips you hear on YouTube of the Ultra Phonix are using OD pedals in front for their drive. The amp does have drive but you have to have it pretty loud to get there. I used an attentuator to hear it for myself.

The amp does not have a master volume. The front layout is the same as the old 73 tremolo it started out as. Apparently the tremolo is HAD's fat boy tremolo circuit. 2 knobs on the front panel to control Trem.
