Just had a chance to play the Red and A/B'd it extensively with a Zendrive. Both pedals are very cool, the Red is more open sounding and easier to dial, I was very impressed. Not to take anything away from the excellent Zendrive.

I have the Jetter GSR and the new Howie (V3). The Red sounds great, but for my rig, I keep going back to the Howie. Just a touch more amp-like and 3D. Both are excellent... two of the best I've tried.

"Let's face it, the non HRMs are easier to play, there, I've said it." - Gil Ayan... AND HE"S IN GOOD COMPANY!
Haven't heard it "up close". The clips on the HAO site suck, but Scott Lerner's clip on youtube sounded much better. I don't think I'd pay a premium for one,...you can build the Zen in about 4-6 hours for about $50 in parts.
I'd like a little light too please.
I have already begged today on the Twreck "topic from HE double hockey sticks".
I have been looking at some pedal sites so even a point in a general circuit type direction would be great. Still pondering MOS verse J. Just haven't gotten time to buy both and start trying combos.

hello.
my email is paololara@tiscali.it
if somebody is willing to send me a schematic Xmas present with large anticipation on the real date............
Thanks and bye
Paolo
It looks like I opened a can of worms! My point was it's easy to build a better pedal than the RM. And, yes I did finish a clone my Zen recently, so that came to mind. And, yes it sounds just like the real thing.
But, as much as I can tell, Alfonzo Hermida is a good guy and is still selling his pedal for the original price, when he could have boosted it way higher (like the resale values on Ebay).
So, I'm not gonna' build and sell clones for $100 each for my own profit, nor disburse the schematic on an open forum.
Check out some of the pedals at GGG or Homebrew Electronics.
I can understand your point.
Mr. Hermida as far as I have heard on different forums is a good guy, and I don't have doubt on this, but probably due to its great amount of request failed to answer me to my request of putting my name in the waiting list ( after the payment for sure) twice. Think that also being myself in the euro area, the zendrive is not that expensive to me, therefore i would have desired to have not the hassle of building it.
Really I don't know where I have made mistakes with him, but he never gave any info ( to me at least)
That's why I was asking for the schematic.
Thanks anyway.
Paolo
PS: the hao is not what allows you to get such a nice dumble tone...
I bought one and sold it straight away. Decent overdrive, but not dumblish, and the pick control is quite deluding
The Shaka Braddah 3 info shows the basis of what Alf started with, and the Shakka Braddah IV is very close to his design. Especially interesting are the notes re using mosfets and germanium diodes in series. Also, don't miss the notes and clips on Jim Radner's site.
While these circuits are not identical to the Zen, they approximate it's tone and response. Good building!
