Dumble Tweed Vibrolux

Post by Bombacaototal »

Fellow TAG members,

I came across the listing below and curious if folks think this is a genuine HAD amp (as I see no hadwriting engraving of his name and date on the chassis like he usually does)

The History of the Kerry Wright/Dumble Vibrolux-

"I acquired the Vibrolux chassis from Chris Fleming (Fender Custom Shop) after his attempt to build it under instruction and numerous calls to Dumble and it didn't work when he was finished! Chris took the amp to Dumble and stopped by my shop for a visit. He told me that he felt he'd never get it back from Dumble..so i bought it AS-IS, where is and went to see Dumble for coffee and he said since it was mine he would start over. Over the next year he built the Vibrolux for me. After receiving the amp from Dumble I built the one-off head and cabinet it's in now.

I had the amp in my shop for years and it ran flawlessly. The Dumble pirates and thieves brag tag that was promised never happened but if you've dealt with Dumble or heard of his ways it's not uncommon , after 35 years in my shop there's no reason to lie or deceive over an amplifier. No one can build a Dumble but Dumble and this is housed in my one-off head & cab. Speaks for itself, obviously a dumble! label or no label" -Kerry Wright

Built in 2010 ´

Lots of little things there that look correct. The yellow Teflon looking lead wire, color markings on some of those resistors look similar to what he's used. Sprague atoms, trimmer resistor in the corner. Lots of anecdotal things seem correct at first look. Or could be a really well done fake. Either way it's a good clean looking build!

I think that is a very nice sounding amp! Nothing really extraordinarily amazing about it though, IMO.
