Inductor in the SSS (I know, not this again!)

Re: Inductor in the SSS (I know, not this again!)
Stupid question: might it act as some kind of antenna to induce some positive or negative feedback?
Or would a piece of wire pick up the same amount of signal from wherever?

Re: Inductor in the SSS (I know, not this again!)
this inductor discussion has been going on a long time so forgive me if I've forgotten the answer to the question I'm going to ask:
Has someone actually measured the value of the inductor in the original amps?

Marcus, it was derived from the Japanese schematic, which stated it was a triad inductor with specific type no.sp 118. You can look for the specs.norburybrook wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 7:10 pm this inductor discussion has been going on a long time so forgive me if I've forgotten the answer to the question I'm going to ask:

No real measurement available afaik.
As for my own build, I used a 390mH mesa inductor. The one earlier in this thread mentioned by Richard is probably the cheapest one available.
I haven't gone testing I just wanted one as close as possible without breaking the bank for the original inductor.
I do however find the science behind it very interesting: the test that Gary from Glaswerks but also the hypothesis Jakub suggested. I'm curious and keep a open mind without a conclusion.

The Triad inductor looks to be the same in these photos.

Some amps use SP118 and some SP117
Re: Inductor in the SSS (I know, not this again!)
Indeed. SSS #001 used SP-117, SSS #002 used SP-118 and SSS #005 didn’t have one.

Somebody should cold-call him and just ask. What’s the worst that could happen? He hangs up?
Re: Inductor in the SSS (I know, not this again!)
I've read 300mH then 390mH ... and lot of different values
anyway may be take a look at this ??? ( 300mH ) :

seems cheap ?

Re: Inductor in the SSS (I know, not this again!)
I thought the inductor was .900mH or 1H in the SSS.

FYI- Triad's SP-118 is available via Triad's authorized distribution network.

not sure if you noted but they say it's shipping on 8/2 so that's a bit of a lead time, guessing maybe due to COVID madness...
Edit: sorry no, they have 60 in stock and 30 on order, apologies for misreading it
