I recall reading that HAD wanted to let his business die with him. Looks like that's not what happened.

"Dumble.com is maintained by the successor to Mr. Dumble’s business, who owns all intellectual property rights associated with DUMBLE® amplifiers, including trademarks, schematics and other trade secrets, together with records and databases of all authentic DUMBLE® amplifiers ever in existence sufficient to verify authenticity. In addition to continuing to manufacture and sell DUMBLE® amplifiers, new and exciting product lines and services are in the works... all of which are and will continue to honor the legacy of Mr. Dumble (albeit in the mysterious “Dumble” fashion)."

If you abandon your IP, then you lose the right to defend others misuse/appropriation of it. I would imagine that the family consulted with a lawyer and then decided that the best way to honor HAD was to prevent others from peddling his name to seek inferior products (at least to them). This is the lesser evil. Perhaps they will never actually build new amps. But the messaging gives them the right to keep fighting.

That could be the case. I don't think his business was ever any sort of actual legal entity, so this may be part of an effort to establish a Dumble brand and IP than can be defended.

This is even worse, we all like a clone but wholesale stealing of every aspect of Dumble identity is, well....

If this new development is aimed at stopping that sort of thing, I'm all for it.

From former "burst brother" Drew Berlin's web site https://drewberlin.com/about/
"As an expert authority of Dumble amplifiers and close friend of the late boutique builder Alexander Dumble, Berlin is an executor of Dumble’s estate and co-owner of the brand’s official legacy manufacturer, Dumble Amplification."

His partner is Matthew Swanson, owner of The Creation Lab recording studio in Turlock, California, who is in the process of acquiring the Dumble, Overdrive Special, and Overdrive Reverb Special trademarks. He was apparently co-owner (along with HAD) of Dumble since 2015. A Justin R. Harrison, Doncaster, UK, also has a filing for Dumble.

any relation with "British Pedal Company" (in Doncaster, UK) with their "DUMBLE pedals" ?

Could this mean that finally it's legal ??? (Or would that mean that he registered the trademark for England only?)

Same guy, AFAIK. His and Swanson's applications are both showing "active" at the USPTO. I don't know how that will get resolved.

Having known Drew Berlin and Howard Dumble since 1999 I can tell you if Drew is involved it's the right move. HAD and Drew were really close, and I'm sure Drew is doing the right thing.

What's funny to me is that a few years ago I considered buying this domain, just because I liked dumble amps and it wasn't taken. I suppose if I had I could have sold it back to whomever this is and made a few bucks like all them domain scalpers. I didn't really have a use for it so I didn't grab it.

Honestly if this project is done the right way then idc, as long as it doesn't end up being a shameful cash grab
