Brownface bandmaster ultraponic build

Post by M Fowler »

5e7 brownface bandmaster new chassis off ebay.

Following Ryan Colgan build using his board set.
CTS pots and Weber rotary switch 50kRA pot.
Using new black color Belton tube sockets from CE Dist.

Moving grandpa slow here folks so roll up your walker and pull up a chair and sip on your Fresca soda pop.

Yup, talk about a sexy faceplate!

I have to have my ultraphonix high gain built a faceplate.
I must say it took me a while to fall in love with it, happened recently.
It feels to me this beast is a lot more sensitive to speaker choice.
Settled on a G12 65 and a G12 65 creamback
Love the mid bump and controled bass out of it.
It shines both on clean and OD.
I used a 100k pot on the mids to extend the clean into tweed territories.
And I messed up with the presence control (Selection between JTM45, Bassman or JCM800 heavy NFB into a switchable (on#off) presence control.
Very curious to hear about your build Mark, my popcorn is ready!

Fred.

I messed up it is not a 5e7 it is a 6g7A 50w Bandmaster non-reverb.

The chassis has 4 power tube holes so it could be used as a Twin 6g8 also.

Looking good!! I drilled holes in the octal tube covers and added bias test points in there. Something to think about!
