Interesting. Sounds like indeed they will be building a few. At 14:10 Berlin says he was relieved when the first non-Dumble built Dumble sounded like the real deal. An admission that a copy can sound as good as an original? Some soft marketing perhaps? Sure would like to browse that archive of records and notes ;^)

I was able to visit the booth and hear the amps for myself. Unfortunately I did not get to play them so I'm basing this purely on what I heard. The new amps sound pretty good but they don't come close to the Dumble (#001) that was next to them or others I have played. They miss the clarity and harmonic fullness of the real thing (you can actually hear this in the YouTube clip by Casino guitars). Are they better than the current clones out there, I don't know as I would need to do a side-by-side.

I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. I think it's admirable that they protecting the name and trying to preserve his legacy. I don't like it that HADs wishes to have the brand die with him are not being honored. This is not a slight on Matt, Drew and Michael but rather on how the legal system works. I hope they stay true to what they are trying to accomplish and don't try to turn this into a cash grab like Trainwreck. There will never be another Dumble amp and hopefully they keep it that way.

Catch 22. Protecting the IP is the only way to let it die, but protecting the IP requires keeping it alive.

With regard to the numerous Dumble products that the Roy brothers imported to Europe from the mid-70s to the mid-80s and distributed there on Alexander's behalf, contact with the musicians was naturally mediated via the Roy brothers and the retailers they supplied. More on this (including some perhaps lesser-known pictures  ) here: https://www.instagram.com/kittyhawk_dum ... s_roybros/

I would like to take this opportunity to raise my glass and wish everyone here a great year 2025!

Hi Max,

Great to see you posting again! Also a point well made, I over generalized a bit.

If they make and sell a few that will strengthen their legal position, no? I agree that HAD's skill and ear for tweaking can't be replaced, but as usual I'm not convinced that there is any magic in the stash of old parts they mentioned.
For whatever it's worth, they said the new amps was built with all new parts. The old parts stash sounded like it was only for service for amps built with those same parts type where possible.

Best to all!

new amps built with new parts because if your gonna build and sell a bunch of amps you don't want to do it with parts that run out. $$$$

I saw that, it’s more of an exhibit than anything else. I have the feeling that this is about keeping the interest alive.

I’m not sure, but I suspect the interest in Trainwreck amps has waned, not due to the clones, no current artists using them.
Yours Sincerely

Or gauging the interest:
