How often do people use "Rock/Jazz" switch, or other controls?

Post by nuke »

I'm exploring a one-off build of a ODS-derivative design and I'm looking at simplifying the control panel to save some space. It's a face-up amp (like a tweed Fender), so no back panel to stash power and other less frequently used switches, and I want reverb and presence, so that eats some space.

So you folks who have been playing ODS style amps for a while, what are your "must have" and "I never touch that" controls and switches?

I build mine like a D'lite with just the Bright, OD, and PAB switches. No FET input, no footswitching. All controls on the front panel. It works really well for me, but I lean heavily into the high gain aspect and just want my "one good sound that works". YMMV.

Rock/Jazz switch is important to me. Think Marshall/Fender. Makes the amps really flexible.
I build and repair tube amps. https://www.monkeymatic.com
