Larry Carlton chooses his Bludotone over a Dumble!

Post by Noel Grassy »

Brandon,
I just saw this at TGP this AM.

You should be proud! I mean that's pretty darn cool to get props like that.
There's some grainy pics in there as well.

Thanks for all you've shared with us over the years. I'm so stoked I scored one of your chassis kits before you had the fakers & perpetrators
trying to cash in.

Very cool. I saw him in Santa Cruz about a month ago. He had two Dumbles on stage, but it was a great show. The first time I'd heard him. It would've been awesome to hear one of Brandon's amps.

As soon as I get his backup built he's parking the Dumbles :D they are a bit tempermental in their old age, and far too valuable to be carted around the world.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Yeah! No wonder we can't get Funk chassis anymore

That is just pure awesome. Carlton isn't necessarily one of my favourite artists; while there are moments, and in fact a few albums that I absolutely adore, there is a lot of stuff he does that I don't really enjoy. But, I think that's par for just about any course. And that's strictly a taste based opinion. As far as my respect for him goes, though, I can't help but recognize him as one of the very best electric guitarists ever, an amazing improvisational soloist, a pretty damn good writer, and just an all around wonderful human being to read and know about. Of course, some amazing tones. How many kids got their guitar playing taken to another level by his work with The Dan? Hard to say! And I didn't know until just in the last couple years that he had actually been shot, and the ordeal that he went through after that. Just amazing.

I knew that a Bludo had previously been used as a short notice replacement for one of Carlton's amps, but this news is even greater to hear. I can't say I know Brandon at all, but he is a poster here, and I think that to be involved with a person like Larry Carlton that on any level is really something to write home about.

Allynmey and I saw LC play at the Bluenote in Manhattan. This was on saturday, the second show of the evening. As stated on the GP, his playing was great :D Very nice guy too.

It was funny to see that the Dumble was used as a backup for the Bludotone!

The amp and the player sounded awesome...well done, Brandon! :D

Brandon,

Congratulations on the ultimate endorsement! What's next...maybe Mr. D. will start buying pre-built amps from you! 2 obvious questions (that you may rightfully choose not to answer):
1. Did you get to de-goop his main head to replicate it?
2. If yes, can anyone now order the same exact item from you?

I currently have way more amps than I need, but I'm somehow suddenly feeling the need for a Bludo!
