How can I get Hilden's es335 + dumble tone with my OTS????

I'm playing through a Ceriatone OTS...i'm loving the tone, but I'm looking for something different, which is not so much gain like RF.

any suggestions??? this is amazing.... i can't get this kind of honky singing tone... gainy yet clean is how I would describe it...

are there any mods or perhaps speakers that would help me get close??

The easiest thing is to re-adjust you overdirve trimmer and try a different speaker.

From there the sky is the limit on what you can do to alter that amp. First, though, we need to know which version you have (component values), as Nik has put out various versions of the circuit.

set the OD trimmer to 11 o'clock
and you need the high plate version of the amp, not the S&M version or the first version.
Also, try a good, flat response speaker such as an EV12 or an Eminence RW&B.

Don't want to be rude, but this is a ampbuilders/tweakers board.
If you're not familiar with electronics, going inside the amp is suicide due to high voltages...

To answer your question: probably high plate version with 5uF/2.2k/3.3k on cathode.

Ive been there... I am not a big fan of the sizzly gain thing and sometime just want a fatter bigger sounding clean channel that has more of an attitude is the only way I can describe it...For me if you turn the trimmer down to where the gain in the OD is about where you like it you begin to lose the girth and can at some point sound choked and lose some of the touch sensitivity.. Something that may be worth a try is use a 12 AT7...70% gain in the OD spot..you can run the trimmer up a bit still get the girth and not have that fizzly thing in od... If the od volume is not loud enough after you change the tube and you like the tone your getting from the AT you can always change the OD volume pot to a 250k or even a 500k to get some of that volume back.. I've done this to several and works pretty good... Also going up on the OD level also increases the low end response..Pretty cool for single coils...The 12at's can handle more current so the amp won't compress up on you like an AX will...Or you can get a Bludo!! Killer BludoDrive amp + Bitchin' vintage 335 Guitar + Super player = youtube clips referenced above. All pieces of the puzzle. A BludoTone would be a bargain with all things considered. Spend some coin with one of the builders here. Someone may be willing to upgrade your amp or build you one. Shoot, Brandon has already offered. You can likely turn your amp for OK money. It will take many hours of study on this board and implementing that knowledge to come close to tweaking your amp to sound similar. If you choose that path, welcome aboard!! I am a lowly tweaker myself. The search function is your friend. In my experience this board is extremely helpful yet has a culture of helping those who help themselves. This site offers a wealth of info and expertise. Please, study up and don't shock the buhjeezus out of yourself.

+1 In fact Gregor bought a Ceriatone after he sold his Dumble and also had to re-adjust the OD trim pot to get to a sweet spot he was happy with. It's a key adjustment on any D amp I've played.

Wouldn't I get more gain if I set the OD trimmer to 11?
I guess I have to start identifying which OTS I have. Its not S&M just the normal OTS. I got mine 2nd hand, the seller told me it was ordered around June and was received on August 2008.
