Jelle, thanks for the reply surely this current draw has to relate to gain?

Could you point to any sites talking about this sort of thing?
Yours Sincerely

Mark,

If you google you'll find some remarks on forums about this.

Also I noticed that some of the tubes in the JJ line, the ones that I have experience with at least, have higher power ratings than the original datasheets call for; eg. the EL34 is supposed to be a 25w tube but JJ makes a 30W version. The 6V6 is another example, very powerful tube. These draw more current than most counterparts.

While we observe that the JJecc83's draw more current, I can only guess how to extrapolate this observation to the JJ preamptubes. If someone knows or has the equipment.....I'd love to know!

Hope this helps,

Jelle

Gil,

Great playing and a great sounding amp. Speaker is an EV? Also, just curious - What was the other guitarist playing through?

This is my version of it, recorded at home with a cassette handheld. There are three clips here:

This is the very same amp, guitar and player (i.e., me), but recorded live, so the amp is loud. This one is a large download, it is a video (with audio on one side only), and I do most of the playing after minute 18 or so, so you may want to fastforward if you want to hear more of the amp.

Thanks, Bob. The speaker is an EVM 12L. The other guitarist is playing through a D-clone he built, thanks to Brandon's parts, a D-lator clone, mostly a 335 and an EVM 12L too.

Just a quick update about the Ceriatone chassis, Nik says he's still selling them. Is that what you guys would recommend? Or should I go with a blank chassis?

There is another guy that sells ODS chassis.
I think he is in Taiwan or somewhere in the far east.

Yep found him, no idea how good they are but they sure look nice.
A little spendy but.....
He is in Thailand

Yeah, those look really nice. I think a lot of people use those here, but I would rather not have it say "Dumble" on the front and back. At this point I'm thinking I'll get a blank chassis and get some custom faceplates.

On a separate note, I'm making a #124 parts list as I haven't found one on the site. When I'm done I'll post it.

Yeah, I saw that, but I thought since a lot of people seem to be making #124 "copies", I would make a parts list. I thought that could be a useful resource.

I'm also a student, so the process of building the amp is (almost) as important as having it.

I'm getting really excited about doing this! Again, thank you all for being here with this forum. I've been reading quite a bit and it's really great that all of this info is here.
