Thanks Gregor, I thought for a minute that the sweet spot for me was at the opposite end of the pot range from where you had it. Turns out we are actually at the same point, which is reassuring.

Cheers, Paul.

Thanks for the 022699 choke tip, I ordered one and am going to give your suggestion a try.

Will you be trying to mod it to sound like your old OS, or something different?
No, I don't wanna mod any amp anymore - I will spend more time practise my playing wich is the best "mod" ... :-)

But I have not gigged with the ceriatone, so I can say much about this amp after the first gig (I had to wait until the cab will come wich I ordered). All the best, Gregor

Yes, I dialed pot no. 1 (see my pic on this 1. side) until the compression and gain was reduced. That was really easy

Gregor

You mentioned that you are using Vox 2 x 12 Blue Alnico Cab.

Have you had a chance to compare 2 x 12 celestion g12 65?

How are the speakers handling the output from the amp?

What settings are you using on the amp?

Hi Paul, I like the blue alnicos much ( !) more than the reissue 65 (way too hard)! I played a tour with the original Dumble (set on 100 Watts) with a very loud band (Rorymania) last year. The Dumble was really loud, and the speaker could handle that. In the studio the amp was sometimes loud too! No problem. But I won't give any warranty. But I think you will hear, what the speaker can bear and hi will give signs of non harmonics before you blast them. Grgor

Hey Greogor, I love your dumble and new Bludotone tone with your es335.
In you opinion what is the most important thing that helped you achieve that tone besides of the playing ofcuz...?

I have an unmoded OTS, how close did you actually get the OTS to sound similar to your original Dumble by just tweaking the OD trimmer? Did you ever change any tubes or do any mods to the OTS?

Please help me out! I'm just in love with the tone you are getting from your es335 and dumble!

thanks

Thanks for your kind words. I never try to change the sound of an amp with tubes (I have no experience with this), when I had the Ceriatone OTS, I set up the gain level on the trim pot to a low setting. I always use not too much gain, this is the only thing I can say. Otherwise, the guitar is important. And don't use too thin strings (I play 0.11-0.49), I use a thick pick (Dunlop Delrin 2.0). And the right hand touch/attack to the strings is another hughe detail when it comes to the tone. Plus: Don't set the action too low (exspecially on the high strings!) Everytime when I get a used (or even new) guitar, the setting is horrible! Way too low, the string can not produce a tone with this setting!
Good luck! All the best, Gregor

Hi Gregor thank you for the info, I really appreciate it. Can you share some of your settings on the OTS if you can still recall?

Thanks!!

Sorry, but I don't know exactly anymore - but I do not dial in to much gain (about 11 O clock. No bright! Sometimes mid, somtimes no mid boost, volume first channel on about 11-12, treble 1 o clock, bass and mid 11
