Re: John Mayer Custom Reverb Schematic?
I was surfing the wayback machine and found these pictures from a tonequest article. I thought they were intereseting. It's a CRS purchased by/built for Mayer.
But where's the mouser transformer for the channel switching relay?
Also, what are they covering in the pixelation?

Re: John Mayer Custom Reverb Schematic?
That amp must be quite a few years old though....maybe from before contiuum. It is only 50w, and has the OD in it too, which JM never used.
The Dumble used primarily for the Continuum album was an EL34 HRM Skyliner BTW. He never used the OD either, just a Klon, TS808/9 etc., or a Keely Katana.
This same EL34 HRM amp was also used on the live TRY! album with a Two-Rock sterling (a clone of Henry Kaisers serial # 1 SSS), and a separate Dumbleator for each amp.
He used a 100w Dumble ODS-Reverb for the Battle Studies album.
As of late, he's been using just the serial #2 100w Dumble SSS, the 100w JM sig amp, and a Dumble Modded Bandmaster to run his Leslie for at least 2 years now.
The production version Two-Rock JM sig amp is 100w and uses a 12ax7 driver tube in the Phase inverter I believe. It was inspired by his own 100w SSS. You can turn the Master Vol almost all the way up with little or no break up.

I didn't realize that Bandmaster was modified by Dumble. What's your source for that info? It looks to be in too good of shape. He must have bought her a facelift.boldaslove6789 wrote:As of late, he's been using just the serial #2 100w Dumble SSS, the 100w JM sig amp, and a Dumble Modded Bandmaster to run his Leslie for at least 2 years now.

Re: John Mayer Custom Reverb Schematic?
if the tech knows his stuff, V1B and V2A are fed from SAME source, he should be able to fig it out from there.brentm wrote:LOL - Re-reading that and it sounds a little ridiculous. The intention of that statement was to simply state to not get too hung up on all the variations of the amp. I know the JM sig has some hard-to-find mojo-fortified components and is a single channel amp. Not sure what the major differences are on the classic reverb. All this stuff seems to muddy the water. I think his tone can be achieved with a decent ODS-type amp and stratStructo wrote:Really?brentm wrote:John Mayer's tone... ah..
I'd recommend a d-style circuit on the amp.
I obviously have much to learn in the communication dept

Anyone have an easier to read version of this schematic? Some of the important sections I just can't understand from this schem, and many of the values are impossible to read.talbany wrote:Here you go!..Not the Mayer version though..

Re: John Mayer Custom Reverb Schematic?
Looking at the JM amp. Looks like it is a SSS without the filters and fancy PI/Drive stage.
Who makes those dogbone resistors?

Here's the front of the amp. Apparently it's the prototype. Hence the plugged holes in the front and different layout of the controls.
I wonder if this reverb circuit is taken from his SSS #002????

Re: John Mayer Custom Reverb Schematic?
Given the tube count and placement, I would say the reverb and mixer are from the SSS amps. But that is only an educated guess, but one full 12AX7 for mixing is a pretty good guess/Aaron wrote:Here's the front of the amp. Apparently it's the prototype.
