Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
Very nice clip!!
Sounds like righteous Larry Carlton tone to me. Really nice.
Why did we build those bulky 50 watt and 100 watt amps, anyway??
For home use; 3-5 or even 1 watt is plenty already!
For live use, 99.9% of us would have plenty of power and headroom, using a 20 watt amp......0.1% may need 50-100 watt for live (outdoor) use.
Man, if we used our ears instead of our eyes, we wouldn't build those bulky amps.
My faw at the moment is a DIY 5F1 and a 5E3 with VVR. Much easier on my (old back)). Th 5F1 size is perfect for rehearsals even in our 4 piece blues band (our room is a hard surfaced, appx 190 Sq.Ft (18 m2) and our drummer is former jazz drummer with a brain - not a lame hard hitter). The 5E3 is used for live gigs. I'm tired of lugging around amp head, cab and rack. My bad.

Larry? I worked so hard on my Ford chops
Thank you for your kind words.
It's great that you tell me, you hear something carltonish but I worked so hard on my ford chops, but nobody can hear it
I love the music of Larry and obviously his music was and is a big inspiration to my playing.
When I read your post, I instantly thought of a thread in www.tube-town.de forum where people modded a valvejunior into a tweed deluxe amp that sounded so good and they implemented power scaling there as well which is a great idea. Do you know that thread?
For the Violeta it's not needed because it sounds good at any volume. The key in this amp is the Bypass Cap on the Master which gives you more brightness in noon position (bedroom level), great for Marshall crunch sounds.
And believe me, the amp is still too loud for playing at home...

Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
@Jan,
I havent seen the Tube-town forum post, but since I live in Denmark, Tube-Town is my preferred supplier of parts. (btw your chassis looks like a Tube-Town chassis, right? )
I am so fund of my 5F1, that I am in the middle of building a EL84 based amp. I is inspired by a Blackheart BH5, but without the tone stack and without cathode bypass on V1. This amp will use an 8" celestion for an even more Marshall/vox ish tone.
Maybe I'll build a 5 watt Dumble like your's next.

Explanations
What a great drawing. Cool and Thank you.
I tried so much to write clear but OK, here are the corrections:
1. It's the typical LNF 22M - 0.047uf - 22M
2. 4.7uF is correct
3. 100K is correct
4. 4.7uF is correct
5. 270pF Snubber
6. 33K pot gives a convenient range
7. 2 to 4uF according to taste of how much highs you want in your amp.
The option of having an adjustable range with a 500K pot instead of a 330K resistor is possible. It should be an internal trimmer, because once you have it you won't change it. Try it yourself.
How do you draw those schematics with?
Thank you.

Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
I use this:How do you draw those schematics with?
http://www.expresspcb.com/expresspcbhtm ... ftware.htm
However, this will work and is reportedly compatible with Mac's.
http://dhost.info/jschem/
And using these programs, there are maybe 200+ editable schematics and layouts here:
http://www.el34world.com/Forum/index.php?board=12.0
Nice thing about these schematics is there are so many of them, it's very easy to grab one and edit it into another amp design very quickly.
CHECK for ERRORS and compare schematic with layout.
Schematic should be "correct".
This is just one approach to a layout and there are others that may work better.
With respect, Tubenit

Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
Cool little amp & killer tone and playing. Looks like fun.
Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
Great sounding!
Thanks Honeydip for sharing the schematic.
Thanks 10thTx for redrawing the schematic and creating the layout.
Well done.

Sounds great. Thanks for sharing.
Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
Thank you for the schems and the inspiration.
Minor detail- I think the cap for the Mild control in connected to the wrong side of the 150k resistor in the layout.

Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
Which type of PT and OT is using in this amp?
Re: Violeta - a single Ended Story
The PT I have taken out of an old Radio. The OT I ve taken from a 5w Singleended Amp, think valveJunior with 4 and 8ohm taps.
