Vibrolux type PT iron would allow for swapping 6L6 and 6V6. Best to get an OT with multiple taps to accommodate.

Well, I guess I the context of 10 years ago it was an excellent concept, an opportunity to get introduced to a Dumble style circuit when most of the info was still underground. They predated the TAG ODS genie being widely released out the bottle and of course Ceriatone( pilfered TAG info ) OTS and Lunchbox offerings. I guess in 2017 with all the info and materials available to follow a full blown version, why even build a gelded version of an 80's ODS?MakerDP wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2017 12:50 am What's the general consensus on these builds? Do they sound "authentic?"
Ideally, I'd like to do a build that I can switch between 6L6 and 6V6 with just a tube change and re-bias. I this plausible? 20-ish watts seems to be about my wheelhouse for the majority of the places I play.
I have built 5 amps in these BN 2 output tube chassis, but never saw the need to build a 6v6 version or the switch tube version . LIke many, I start at a pair of the bigger bottles. My 6v6 preference is to run 4 tubes which also gives the option to run a pair of big bottles. I still have my "Tweaked" 50 watt D'lite, while its a good piece for what it is, it's not in the same ball park as my 100 watt full blown versions. Weight wise it s not much saving as it has 60 watt output iron and beefy PT with 465 volts on the plates.
Again, in 2017 if one has access to full featured chassis why even build the gelded version in a FF chassis.
However, the basic PAB, OD platform is a great circuit to stuff in small form factor chassis and you can get that great OD tone.
YMMV

What TM said ^^. 6L6 sounds better with this circuit in my opinion as well. Master volume works well to keep volume down.

So what are the general thoughts on 50W vs 100W 6L6 then? Anyone tried one with KT77 tubes? Those are supposed to be a great mix of 6L6 and EL34 tones.

Re: Looking for d'lite 22/33 Documentation
100w is fuller sounding but not really 'louder' if you get my drift.
for example, the 100w amp when you hit a sharp transient say on your low 'E' string will give you instant response and a full blast in your trousers the 50w doesn't have the power to give you the same transient ,low end response.
a 50w version means you can drive the output more which can be a nicer sound on the overdrive but you're getting quite loud though.
if you're not doing gigs where you can open the amp up then I'd go for a 50w 6L6. If you want a 'bigger' sound go for the 100.

It takes a lot of tinkering to get most of these circuits to create that honk tone otherwise they sound like a Fender to me.
The BN circuit really sounds like a Fender.

How do you like that vs the EL34's? It should have some better bottom-end and smoother highs?

Cool thanks for the info.
