I was watching some SRV videos and on this one where Double Trouble are in 1983 Berlin at an outside concert, at the begining it looks like a ODS amp behind Stevie @ 07 seconds.
It's a blackface ODS from the looks of it.

I can't tell what Shannon is playing through.

Yeah it's an ODS and a Dumble 4x12 cab he borrowed until he got his first "King Tone Consoul" SSS. He kept the 4x12 cab.

AFAIK it belongs to Jackson Browne.

Tommy Shannon is using a Dumble 300SL Bass amp too with matching Dumble cabs.

Mike
Great thanks for calling him glad to see he has his own shop.
Damn great tech there... Those guys were my mentors...

The first time I went in there crispys bench was around to the side where you could not see him and he was doing fret work on my 58 strat.
To freak me out though he was hitting the table as hard as he could with a dead blow hammer screaming to the top of his lungs..
I JUST CANT GET THESE DAMN FRETS TO STAY DOWN.

upon which I jumped up on the counter to lean over to see
collings and crisp were laughing their ass off collings had a rear view mirror on his bench so he did not have to turn around to see...

I could see his shoulders moving from laughing so hard.
Freaked me right out....

DEF is, but i don`t particularly care for the sound he`s using! I can see the SSS def being his cup o`tea!

Yep Saw him with Ods once and it was gone for the SSS amps.
between those SSS amps Ejs and Stevies I think Erics was the better sounding one...

Id just moved to Austin in 81 and was already hitting Stevens shop by then.
I got to hear both of those amps quite a bit during those days as they were playing alot around Austin ... Even saw the Birthday show for Stevie and Eric opened that show...

I was given a PEST PASS for that show by the manager and when Eric saw that he said take that off Right now and I said how will I get around back here he said you take mine and pulled his tag off his coat and gave me his backstage pass !

Stevie had bad food poisoning that show and I mean looked like he was not going to come back out and finish the show..

He did and too my amazement played 3rd stone from the sun and blew everybodies shit away.

Ive never heard a better version of that tune live then from that night and
Randy Hansen wears that crown but Stevie came back out from being on the floor in the bathroom too opening a giant can of whoop ass on his Texas audience...

I know that show was filmed dont have that one though...
I liked his SSS better then the Ods the Ods was there and gone
pretty quick from what I recall from the scuttlebutt.

But honestly between the two SSS amps if I had choice id have picked
Erics Something about that one was never duplicated and when it came back from being "FIXED" it was never the same to Eric...

Carlos has that amp but its not the same as it was before it had the issue.
I guess the other SSS is in the vault...

One thing that is for certain only Mr Dumble truly knows both of those amps inside out and how they came the first time out of the shoot.

I was at that show too and my buddy and I are convinced those amps must have been modded. He does have some incredible hands though...
Nope. Stock Fender Deville's...

I have modded HR Deluxes and Devilles on a ccconsistent basis for past 12 yrs, only way i can POSSIBLY play them stock, is turn treble off, prescence off, lower bass, CRANK the mids, then push it with a pedal, not bad, but smokin after the mod!

So do we have any solid documentation (even stage photos, etc), of any of the new Dumbles? I know 3 big names (and there's probably a couple more??) that have received amps from Mr. Dumble fairly recently. Just curious if anyone has any hard/fast info on these amps.

Those stock speakers stink. Fender uses them in many models (so they must buy boat loads very cheaply), and we replace them often. Funny thing: I replaced a speaker in a guys amp with one of those Eminence Fenders (he didn't want to spend a lot of money). He came back in a week, and asked if I "had anything else cheap in stock "...lol. He liked a Jensen more... they are pinched and harsh and just not a great driver...

We've heard (and confirmed) of Overdrive Specials as well as SSS's made within the last few years...
Who did he make the SSSs for and what serial number?
