Ic: thanks for putting the pics back up again.
Your build is outstanding, and the amp sounds awesome.
What more could you wish for? Tubes that don't have wear :D

The amp and more importantly your guitar playing certainly do sound incredibly fantastic! Thanks for sharing! I am also still a big fan of your ManZamp.

With respect, 1othtx

My current thoughts on getting good tone on this thing is an analogy to film photography.

All the older discussion I re-read in this thread might be akin to explaining how I set my 35mm camera to take a picture; f-Stop, Shutter-speed, and focus and film type.
But as soon as I want to take a different picture all that needs to change.

So, for any given recording or performing task, the various trimmers need to be adjusted to suite the guitar, speaker cabinet, mic placement, tubes in the thing and, most importantly the rest of the music.

So, to continue the analogy, I think some YouTube reviews of Dumble amps are akin to someone trying to take pictures with Henri Cartier-Bresson's 35mm Leica, without setting the f-stop, shutter-speed or focus. Then commenting on the quality of the photographs.

Nice analogy. It's a complex tool with more complex tools and processes between the negative and the final print.

Another development.

I purchased a refurbished 2009 iMac computer from my local computer repair shop with the intention of opening the files used to create this amp as none of the software I used works on my current computer. The way it worked out is that a new graphics card for my crashed 2009 computer was $600, whereas the shop had a working, re-furbished, nearly identical computer for $300 with warranty.

Converting the files is kind of a big deal because there is no direct conversion from FreeHandMX to any contemporary graphics software.

Anyway, here is an example of one of the files that I recently converted to Affinity Designer format.

My schematics are going to be a bigger headache. I can't seem to open any of them, on the old computer with Snow Leopard, vintage 2009 operating system.

Those schematics were all drawn up on the iMac computer I had in my workshop that looked like this below that crashed from a failed power supply. I still have all the files, but no way to open them presently and, even if I had access to an old computer, I don't think I have the software.

Here is another I just converted. Again, somewhat imperfect because the box for the outline of the board is gone, along with the lines indicating centimeters and inches.

This is the un-finished layout. Probably never complete it because when it imported, it put everything (even every letter) on a separate layer; 648 layers in all. :(

it is 'possible' that the power supply could be repaired. I've done some SMPS repairs but am no genius.

Maybe that is just a matter of rewiring some PC compatible power supply?

Unlikely, Apple's always done it their way, which means completely non standard to any standards defined ever.

i.e. they have a very custom power supply that only can be replaced by an exact duplicate that is also no longer made, and they refuse any repair and block others from doing repairs.

I checked in my attic and that computer is gone. I did find my Mac SE and it boots up! I also found my Quadra 700 too.

At this point I think all my schematics that can be edited are gone. I do have PDF or screen shots of most all of them. Of course these can't be updated or edited.
