I'm still a newbie here so I am going to ask the rules regarding the "tag" game.
From what I see so far:
1. He can play guitar, especially "politician".
2. He is on a tone quest and we are privileged to witness.
3. He has a real Dumble therefore should be revered and catered to.
4. He builds nothing.
5. He shares nothing except clips of him playing his amps.
6. He seems to irritate some of the heavy hitters on TAG.
Is there anything I'm missing?
I'm still recovering from the "warble" scandal over on TGP and it's brief life here so I want to make sure that I know the terms of engagement before I get sucked into another colossal waste of time.

Yes it remarkable that we hear a lot about TAG, his Dumble amp and thereof stressfull financial situation. However, he has not yet had the courtesy to present a gut shot or two of the icon, for people here to enjoy and learn from......
May I suggest your next tune would be 'Belly Bottom Window' by Jimi Hendrix a good tune on par with 'Politician'

Yes it is irritating when people won't share their knowledge; just like all the guys who have knowledge of the Steel String Singer but won't share it...

Yeah!! We should be really grateful for those here that have shared... If not of actual shots schematics etc aside...Just general comments interpretations, tweaks or experiences with the actual amps...Try and not be resentful to those who don't share everything..This is a wonderful place...

Let me try typing a lil' slower for you, Tag...
Every one of those amps is different - even the Dumbles. Each one is built for a purpose - a guitarist's preference for a characteristic attack, choice of pickups, favorite guitar, preferred cabinets, loss of hearing, stadiums vs studios...
If you know what you want, it is time to talk to a builder and get something made for you rather than chasing around every other dog to find out where it's been.
I hope you find what you need - I believe the talent you need to connect with is here at AmpGarage. Clips to stroke your ego about your latest acuisition won't help you either find the amps of your dreams or help anyone advance their knowledge of ampbuilding so no value added there.
As I have stated in the past. You cannot asses the feel of an amp from a bad MP3 sound clip with bad Backing tracks.
You know guys spend allot of time Mixing and mastering these records you are comparing your tones too. Not only that each instrument has had as much thought put into it as the "beloved lead guitar track" sometimes allot more!
Most professional players don't and can't afford to churn through that amount of money to find a sound off someones else record. I'm buying Robben Fords elusive and very expensive talent box.....ha
What is needed for all builders is working with players who have a concept of what works for them. The builders job is then to interpret, turn it into resistors and cap values, so everyone can make music.
Why not move this thread to Garage talk.
I too as I have gotten older have been chasing that elusive tone I desire and sometimes think I have found it only to lose it. The other thing I find is just like the pros, we end up sounding like we sound.
I built a D'Lite clone from scratch more than a year ago as an experiment since I am a physicist and not an electronics tech at the prompting of my friend Bob (aka RJGuitars). The amp turned out great but did not sound like alot of the amps posted here. Thinking I could get it to sound more like "the grail" (whatever that really is), I sent it off to Heistl. The amp came back sounding great but different than when it left. When I sent it to Heistl I remember he asked if I wanted it to sound like a Dumble or if I wanted it to sound good, I opted for the latter and am very happy. The amp is so good that I almost never even use the PAB any more. But guess what, I sound pretty much like I do thru my Zinky or my Mesa Maverick or my Marshall DSL. Not exactly of course, but very close. The clone is just much quieter and has more character in my opinion compared to those other amps.
Two examples of what I am talking about that I can think of are one, dogears. I love his tone and his playing, but he has in my opinion just managed to get the same tone many different ways. I remember seeing him on youtube playing through a metal amp at a trade show. Within a few minutes he had that amp tweaked to his sound and sounded great. Now he is even demonstrating to us he can get his sound through amp emulation. The second example is Robben Ford. I saw him here in Santa Fe and he sounded just like himself on the Dumble while playing thru two rented Fender Twins and his secret-weapon boost pedal of choice. The tone is in the hands and ears of the player IMHO.
Try to get the sound you want and get on with playing after you find it. Life is way too short. Glad you guys are all building great sounding amps!
Good point ... I sound like me on whatever I'm playing through ... better amp just gets me a little more comfortable.
Example: Listen to Larry Carlton on the old "Steely Dan" Fender tweed and then on the Dumble ... examples on the Larry WEBTV site that I posted here. He sounds similar to me on both ... great on both.

Good point, consider an alternative perspective like trying to build one of these amps (ODS) in 2001 like I did. That can really help you see the valuable info here. I'm so appreciative of the input here, and over the years have developed my amp into something I'm totally satisfied with.
I too have built a Dlite... Moss and Norm you rock ( now sounding very good thanks to Henry ), a Rocket that is sublime ( thanks rj ) a Dlator ( thanks Brandon and Hooked ) and a 5E3 ... again H to the rescue with small great changes. But its my Redplate that is inspiring me to reach for more of what I " really sound like ", because I want to play more and now have tones that have eluded me for all these years. The BlackTweedReverbOD has so much in the way of dynamics and variability and yet there is my lead tone in there. So any way it is great to be among so many talented folk that strive for tone...Phalanges, thanks for helping me open this door.

No hard feelings, but seriously, If you want a gut shot of a Dumble, buy one. You think I spent 55K on an amp to show you exactly what is inside so you can try and clone it? Get real. Very few raw clips with zero studio trickery of Dumbles around, and I am posting as many as I can. Listen to the tone and learn. If someone manages to get it dead on, I will be happy to sell mine and get my $$ back. I bought it for one reason, and one reason only. The tone. I would have LOVED to have found it for a far cheaper price. I have been searching for years and years and the Emerald Pros and stock customs are the closest amps I have found. Still searching!
dr. who wrote:Which Redplate and which Welagon did ya play Tag?
None yet. I have not heard anything by either that sounds more like a Dumble to me than the TwoRocks. The redplates sound great, but to me, are more of a Dumble style taken in a different direction, which may be better or worse depending on what one wants.
